RR Lyrae Variables in NGC 2808 [PDF]

open access: green, 2011
NGC 2808 is a unique globular cluster with not only a bimodal-horizontal branch (HB) but also with gaps on the blue horizontal branch. Adequate interpretation of the nature of the detected peculiarities in "bimodal" and "gap" clusters is of paramount importance for understanding the nature of the second parameter phenomenon and scenarios for the ...

Rr Lyrae Variable Stars [PDF]

open access: bronzeHighlights of Astronomy, 1980
Some twenty years have passed since the decision was taken by the General Assembly of IAU in 1958 to resume a regular control of light variation stability in RR Lyrae stars. With this end in view the revision of elements is carried out at the Odessa Astronomical Observatory yearly, whereas ephemerides of RR Lyrae stars are published at the Krakov ...

The Lack of RR Lyrae Variables in Ultrafaint Dwarf Galaxy Sextans II [PDF]

open access: greenThe Astronomical Journal
RR Lyrae in ultrafaint dwarf (UFD) galaxies, if found, would be valuable to constrain the distances of these UFD. In this work, we report our search of RR Lyrae in a recently discovered UFD—Sextans II. Based on multiband (griz) time-series archival DECam

RR Lyrae variables [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1997
On the basis of a historical overview we outline the relevant results which allowed to approach on firm basis the physical mechanisms which govern the radial pulsation of RR Lyrae variables, revealing the astrophysical parameters which account for their limiting amplitude pulsational behavior.

RR Lyrae variables in Baade's window [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1979
In his pioneer study of the RR Lyrae variable stars near NGC 6522, in the relatively unobscured window close to the galactic center (1 = 0.9, b = −3.9), Baade (1963) was limited by the high zenith distance of the galactic center as seen from Palomar, and suggested that southern hemisphere observations would be of value. Subsequent studies of the region

A Radial-velocity Search for Binary RR Lyrae Variables [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2021
Abstract We report 272 radial velocities for 19 RR Lyrae variables. For most of the stars we have radial velocities for the complete pulsation cycle. These data are used to determine robust center-of-mass radial velocities that have been compared to values from the literature in a search for evidence of binary systems.

New RR Lyrae variables in binary systems [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society: Letters, 2015
Abstract Despite their importance, very few RR Lyrae (RRL) stars have been known to reside in binary systems. We report on a search for binary RRL in the OGLE-III Galactic bulge data. Our approach consists in the search for evidence of the light-travel time effect in so-called observed minus calculated (O−C) diagrams.
