A Catalogue of RR Lyrae Stars from the Northern Sky Variability Survey [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2006
A search for RR Lyrae stars has been conducted in the publicly available data of the Northern Sky Variability Survey (NSVS). Candidates have been selected by the statistical properties of their variation; the standard deviation, skewness and kurtosis ...

Flavours of variability: 29 RR Lyrae stars observed with Kepler [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2010
We present our analysis of Kepler observations of 29 RR Lyrae stars, based on 138-d of observation. We report precise pulsation periods for all stars. Nine of these stars had incorrect or unknown periods in the literature. Fourteen of the stars exhibit both amplitude and phase Blazhko modulations, with Blazhko periods ranging from 27.7 to more than 200

RR Lyrae Variable Stars and the Distance Scale [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1978
A statistical parallax algorithm (Clube and Dave, 1978a,b), using the technique of maximum likelihood, has been applied to a set of 103 ‘ab’ - RR Lyrae stars in the solar neighborhood (r 2<kpc), using observational data from the Royal Greenwich Observatory Bulletins. A second set of 130 ‘ab’ - RR Lyrae stars has been kindly supplied to us by Dr.

Identifying RR Lyrae Variable Stars in Six Years of the Dark Energy Survey [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2021
Abstract We present a search for RR Lyrae stars using the full six-year data set from the Dark Energy Survey covering ∼5000 deg2 of the southern sky. Using a multistage multivariate classification and light-curve template-fitting scheme, we identify RR Lyrae candidates with a median of 35 observations per candidate.

THE CHEMICAL COMPOSITIONS OF VARIABLE FIELD HORIZONTAL-BRANCH STARS: RR LYRAE STARS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2011
We present a detailed abundance study of 11 RR Lyrae ab-type variables: AS Vir, BS Aps, CD Vel, DT Hya, RV Oct, TY Gru, UV Oct, V1645 Sgr, WY Ant, XZ Aps, and Z Mic.High resolution and high S/N echelle spectra of these variables were obtained with 2.5 m du Pont telescope at the Las Campanas Observatory.

Infrared K-band Photometry of Field RR Lyrae Variable Stars [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2019
We present multi-epoch infrared photometry in the $K_s$-band for 74 bright RR Lyrae variable stars tied directly to the 2MASS photometric system. We systematize additional $K$-band photometry from the literature to the 2MASS system and combine it to obtain photometry for 146 RR Lyrae stars on a consistent, modern system.

RR Lyrae Variables in the Crater II Dwarf Galaxy [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2018
Abstract We report the detection of RR Lyrae variable stars in Crater II, a recently discovered large and diffuse satellite dwarf galaxy of the Milky Way (MW). Based on B, V time-series photometry obtained with the Korea Microlensing Telescope Network 1.6 m telescope at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory, we identified 83 ab-type ...
