Brain‐Wide Connectivity and Topographic Organization of Leptin Receptor Neurons in the Dorsomedial Hypothalamus

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 10, October 2026.
Whole‐brain input–output mapping reveals that DMDLepRb and DMHLepRb neurons share a highly conserved global connectivity architecture yet exhibit local connection biases: DMDLepRb neurons preferentially integrate arousal and defensive signals, whereas DMHLepRb neurons favor viscerosensory and metabolic inputs, uncovering a principle of conserved global

Riverbank Erosion Susceptibility Under Varying Sedimentological and Freeze–Thaw Conditions in Cold Climate Regions

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 10, October 2026.
Freeze–thaw processes, moisture, and sediment properties control riverbank erosion in boreal–subarctic rivers. Field measurements, geotechnical analyses and monitoring reveal continuous, seasonally driven erosion, while climate projections indicate reduced freezing, potentially increasing erosion risk under warming conditions.

Machine Learning‐Based Estimation of Reference Evapotranspiration and Crop Coefficients for Wheat Under Diverse Climatic Conditions

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 75, Issue 4, Page 1574-1591, Otober 2026.
ABSTRACT Accurate estimation of reference evapotranspiration (ET0) and crop coefficients (Kc) is critical for irrigation planning, particularly in data‐limited regions where agriculture dominates freshwater consumption. Although machine learning (ML) methods have been widely applied to ET0 and Kc estimation, most studies address these parameters ...

Stable Isotope Labeling to Track De Novo Fatty Acid Synthesis in Mouse Cartilage‐Enriched Joint Tissue In Vivo: A Practical Workflow

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, Volume 44, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Cartilage is traditionally viewed as a metabolically quiescent tissue that relies primarily on exogenous lipid uptake to meet its energetic and structural demands. However, increasing evidence suggests that chondrocytes exhibit metabolically active behaviors, particularly under aging and pathological conditions.

Moderate Biochar–Compost Mixture Is More Effective in Improving Biomass, Nutrient Fluxes, and Photosynthetic Outputs for Sustainable Land Restoration and Soil Fertility

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, Volume 37, Issue 16, Page 12004-12017, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Soil nutrient depletion severely constrains crop productivity in degraded and saline environments. Strategies such as biochar–compost integration could be useful for sustainable agriculture and land restoration on a global scale. This study evaluated the effects of biochar (1% Bc), compost (1% Co), and their blends (0.5% Bc + 0.5% Co and 1% Bc

Acute anaphylactic and multiorgan inflammatory effects of Comirnaty in pigs: evidence of spike protein mRNA transfection and paralleling inflammatory cytokine upregulation

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 20, Page 6225-6239, October 2026.
Abstract Background and Purpose Rare but severe adverse events (AEs) associated with mRNA‐lipid nanoparticle (LNP) COVID‐19 vaccines, such as Comirnaty, include anaphylaxis and inflammatory organ disorders, but their underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. We aimed to develop an animal model to study these phenomena.

On the Design of a European Health Union: Public Preferences, Trust, and Experience With the Covid‐19 Crisis

open access: yesRegulation &Governance, Volume 20, Issue 4, Page 1487-1499, October 2026.
ABSTRACT During and following the Covid‐19 pandemic, the European Union (EU) is taking first steps toward a European Health Union (EHU). There is no set definition of what an EHU is, but in this paper, we explore the popular support for different designs of an EHU, including a pillar in which healthcare policy competences are shared between the EU and ...

Regulating via Conditionality: The Instruments of the New Industrial Policy

open access: yesRegulation &Governance, Volume 20, Issue 4, Page 1550-1568, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Conditionality was a central concern in the development literature of the 1990s. With the significant expansion of targeted public support to private firms since the Great Financial Crisis, the issue of conditionality has once again become a focal point in industrial policy debates.

Steering the Green Transition in the European Union? Analysis of the European Commission's Strategic Communication

open access: yesRegulation &Governance, Volume 20, Issue 4, Page 1893-1906, October 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper examines the strategic communication of the European Commission about developing a regulatory approach and financial instruments to foster the greening of the European economy over a period of 14 years (2009–2023). We investigate in‐depth the strategic communication of three European Commission Colleges led by Barroso, Juncker, and ...
