Energy metabolism, adenosine, and glutamate signaling reprogramming by decanoic acid in Glut1 disorder syndrome

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 11, Issue 3, Page 1036-1045, June 2026.
Abstract Glut1 deficiency syndrome (Glut1DS) leads to neurological and cognitive symptoms and is primarily treated using carbohydrate‐restricted ketogenic diets. However, a recent clinical trial of a less restrictive, non‐ketogenic, medium chain triglyceride (MCT) diet with a high decanoic acid content suggests efficacy in Glut1DS treatment.

Management of retinopathy of prematurity in a tertiary referral neonatal intensive care unit: Treatment rates and the impact of outsourcing laser therapy

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 104, Issue 4, Page e416-e425, June 2026.
Abstract Purpose To describe the treatment rate for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) at a tertiary referral neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in the south‐western region of the Netherlands. In addition, we evaluated the impact of outsourcing laser treatment, implemented in 2018, by comparing treatment characteristics from 3 years prior and 3 years ...

Development of Holocene lacustrine microbialites on the Iberian Peninsula: Insights into environmental and depositional controls using X‐ray CT and petrography

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 73, Issue 4, Page 1148-1184, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Microbial mats and microbialites are common in modern and ancient saline lacustrine environments and are highly responsive to biological and environmental factors. As such, they represent important sources of high‐resolution environmental data across a wide range of geological time. Nonetheless, interpretation of fossil mats is non‐trivial due

Systematic Investigation of Classical Molecular Dynamics Models for Ionic Liquid‐Based Electrolytes at Electrode Interfaces

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 27, Issue 10, 27 May 2026.
This work systematically compares classical molecular dynamics (MD) simulation approaches, including electrode models and electrolyte force‐field polarisability, for predicting the interfacial behaviour of ionic liquid (IL)‐based electrolytes in response to electrode polarisation. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are widely used to investigate ionic
