Association between proximity to a lead‐releasing facility and cognition in diverse cohorts

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND The associations between adult lead exposure and late‐life cognition are largely unknown. METHODS In two cohorts, Kaiser Healthy Aging and Diverse Life Experiences (KHANDLE, n = 1638) and Study of Healthy Aging in African Americans (STAR, n = 741), we assessed residential proximity to lead‐releasing facilities for association with ...

USING BRANDING TO ATTRACT, RECRUIT, AND RETAIN TALENTED STAFF [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this environment in continuous changing it is hard for organizations toattract and maintain the best candidates. The organizations use manymethods to recruit and hire, but now it is time to use the organization’s brandto attract talents the ...

Impact of Internal Temperature Stabilisation on Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy Based State‐of‐Health Evaluation of Electric Vehicle Battery Modules for Second‐Life Applications

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 9, Issue 5, May 2026.
Thermal stabilisation of EV battery modules is critical for reliable EIS‐based SOH diagnostics. This study shows that stabilisation of module casing temperature does not ensure thermal equilibrium of internal electrochemical processes, potentially leading to significant errors in selected equivalent circuit model parameters.

Multi‐Phase Synergy Enhances Lithium‐Ion Storage Performance of Transition Metal Oxalates

open access: yesBattery Energy, Volume 5, Issue 3, May 2026.
A multi‐phase synergistic strategy was employed to manipulate the crystal structure of transition metal oxalates. The resulting multi‐phase mixture ( (MC₂O₄·2H₂O‐CuC₂O₄‐MC₂O₄·2H₂O, M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu) provides a more stable framework for lithium‐ion insertion and deinsertion.

Quantifying utility-scale photovoltaic impacts on eastern Tibetan alpine grasslands through RSEI and LSTM approaches

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science
Utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) are expanding across the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau, yet their ecological consequences for alpine grasslands remain poorly quantified. We integrated the Remote-Sensing Ecological Index (RSEI) with a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network to examine spatiotemporal responses of alpine grasslands to a 1.2 GW PV plant ...

Correlating the Interfacial Chemistries With Ion Conduction and Lithium Deactivation in Hybrid Solid Electrolytes

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 3, May 2026.
The rapid ion transport characteristics of nano‐Li2S at the intrinsic/extrinsic interface in typical hybrid electrolytes have been detected at the atomic scale, enabling the Li || Li cell to cycle for over 3000 h. Inactive lithium (dead Li) is the key factor leading to the performance degradation of solid‐state Li metal batteries.

Opportunities of Highly Oxidized Single‐Walled Carbon Nanotubes for Electrochemical and Electromechanical Applications

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 7, 14 April 2026.
This review presents recent advances in highly oxidized SWCNTs, which retain sp2 structural integrity while offering abundant surface functionalities and dispersant‐free processability. It highlights controlled oxidation strategies, enhanced interfacial reactivity, and their broad applicability—from wet‐spun fibers and chemical sensors to ...

Common words between two random strings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We investigate the problem of enumerating the words that are common to two random strings. We show that when the source models are memoriless that the number of common words is sublinear in the length of the sequence, and linear when the source models ...
