A multimodel intercomparison study of variable‐resolution global models with grid refinement over the Arctic and Antarctic

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
We document the protocol and first results from the first ever coordinated multimodel variable‐resolution experiment set with refinement over the polar regions. We find that the refinement generally yields model‐dependent effects. The most consistent improvement is an amelioration of the upper‐level cold bias in the polar regions that translates into ...

The Role of Index Fund Ownership in the Era of Say‐on‐Pay

open access: yesFinancial Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We examine whether and how index funds influence executive compensation in the post‐Say‐on‐Pay era. Using the annual reconstitution of the Russell indexes as a source of exogenous variation in index fund ownership, we document a causal effect of index ownership on CEO pay structure.

Short selling ETFs and market performance

open access: yesJournal of Financial Research, EarlyView.
Abstract We examine short selling activity in leveraged Exchange‐Traded Funds (ETFs) and its impact on underlying index performance. Using a novel measure of ETF short exposure, which includes long positions in inverse leveraged ETFs, we document that high short exposure is associated with positive performance in the subsequent period.

Non-cooperative RSU deployment in vehicular networks

open access: yes2012 9th Annual Conference on Wireless On-Demand Network Systems and Services (WONS), 2012
This work considers the issue of distributing contents to vehicles through roadside communication infrastructure. Within this scenario, this work studies the dynamics of infrastructure deployment by using game theoretic tools. A strategic game is used to model the case in which the operators perform their deployment decisions concurrently, whereas an ...

Nocturnal Sleep Breathing Patterns in Healthy Adolescents Residing at Very High Altitudes in Bolivia

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Data on sleep and respiratory patterns among adolescents residing at very high altitude (> 3500 m) remain scarce, and altitude‐related physiological differences may influence these parameters. Studying adolescents at different very high altitudes is crucial, as subtle environmental variations could affect sleep‐related oxygenation and ...

Potassium binders and continuation of renin–angiotensin system inhibitors/mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist in chronic kidney disease and heart failure (the DEMONSTRATE database)

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, Volume 300, Issue 2, Page 179-192, August 2026.
Abstract Introduction Hyperkalaemia is a serious complication in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and heart failure (HF), often leading to the discontinuation of renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system inhibitors (RAASi; renin‐angiotensin system inhibitors [RASi] and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists [MRAs]) despite their cardiorenal ...

Therapeutic Potential of Carica papaya (L.) Extract on NRF2/KEAP1 and Apoptotic Pathways in Asbestos‐Induced Lung Toxicity

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
Asbestos exposure induced oxidative stress, apoptosis, and lung tissue damage in animal models. Treatment with Carica papaya (500 mg/kg) extract improved antioxidant status, reduced oxidative stress biomarkers, and restored lung architecture. Gene expression analysis showed modulation of NRF2/KEAP1 and apoptotic pathways.
