Assessment of two minimally invasive methodologies for sex identification in the European eel, Anguilla anguilla

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Sex is an important driver of variation in behaviour, ecology and physiology. Sex identification in the Critically Endangered European eel (Anguilla anguilla) currently requires fish sacrifice, or the use of morphological differences such as body length, which can be inaccurate in certain habitats and at intermediate body lengths.

Multiple types of topological fermions in transition metal silicides

open access: yes, 2017
Exotic massless fermionic excitations with non-zero Berry flux, other than Dirac and Weyl fermions, could exist in condensed matter systems under the protection of crystalline symmetries, such as spin-1 excitations with 3-fold degeneracy and spin-3/2 ...

RSW Junctions of Advanced Automotive Sheet Steel by Using Different Electrode Pressures [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering, Technology & Applied Science Research, 2018
Based on this study, the effects of the different types of welding currents and electrode pressures on the tensile shear properties of the resistance spot welding (RSW) which are the joints of the commercial DP600 sheet steel are now been investigated.

Short selling ETFs and market performance

open access: yesJournal of Financial Research, EarlyView.
Abstract We examine short selling activity in leveraged Exchange‐Traded Funds (ETFs) and its impact on underlying index performance. Using a novel measure of ETF short exposure, which includes long positions in inverse leveraged ETFs, we document that high short exposure is associated with positive performance in the subsequent period.

Utilizing the metabolic syndrome component count in workers’ health surveillance: An example of day-time vs. day-night rotating shift workers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Occupational Medicine and Environmental Health, 2015
Objectives: To establish a practical method for assessing the general metabolic health conditions among different employee groups, this study utilized the total count of metabolic syndrome (MetS) elements as a parameter, and performed a retrospective ...

Whose Rhetoric Matters? Social Responsibility Rhetoric and the Moderating Influence of Social Roles in Crowdfunding Pitches

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract We use role congruity theory to examine how differing role expectations surrounding entrepreneur gender and race shape the influence of social responsibility rhetoric used in crowdfunding pitches. To do so, we develop a novel content‐analytic measure of social responsibility rhetoric using the Kinder, Lydenberg, and Domini (KLD) dimensions of ...

Adaptive Resistance Spot Welding Process that Reduces the Shunting Effect for Automotive High-Strength Steels

open access: yesMetals, 2018
Although short-pitch resistance spot welding (RSW) significantly increases vehicle body strength, its application has been limited because of the associated shunting effect.

The Inclusion Trade‐Off: Comparing the Design and Functionality of Collaborative Governance Forums

open access: yesPolicy Studies Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Environmental challenges require collaboration across jurisdictions, often through forums or intermediary spaces for repeated interaction. A persistent forum design question concerns inclusion criteria, or which actors should be included.

Performance of resistance spot weld caps coated with Ni and Fe aluminide alloys by electro spark deposition on hot dip galvanized steel

open access: yesRevista de Metalurgia, 2023
Resistance spot welding (RSW) is widely used as a main joining technique in industry and the electrode caps are frequently replaced because of the degradation during service. In this study, the G type copper RSW electrode caps were coated with Fe and Ni
