Introgression of wild barley alleles improves seedlings salinity tolerance in the nested association mapping HEB‐400 population

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 19, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract Climate change is intensifying the frequency and severity of abiotic stresses that threaten global food security by reducing crop productivity. Among these, saline stress poses a serious threat to barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) production. These conditions are increasingly prevalent in arid and semiarid regions, as well as in regions with limited

Enhancing Low‐Latitude Ionospheric Irregularity Prediction With Generalized Linear Models

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract The ionosphere poses challenges for accurate forecasting due to its complexity and variability. Irregularities in the lower ionosphere are influenced by local time, season, geographic location, solar activity and space weather, complicating precise predictions.

First Coincident Radar and Optical Observations of a Meteor Radio Afterglow

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract It has been hypothesized that Meteor Radio Afterglows (MRAs) occur due to resonant transition radiation (RTR) where suprathermal electrons emit as they pass through electron density inhomogeneities in a turbulent plasma. Meteor trails are thought to produce suprathermal electrons through anion oxidation, which can be identified through meteor ...

Global GNSS Observation of Mesoscale Ionospheric Irregularities (2006–2024)

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Mesoscale ionospheric irregularities are statistically investigated using an unprecedented 19‐year long‐term global GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) TEC (total electron content) data set. These irregularities are represented by ionospheric fluctuations within a 5°× ${}^{\circ}\times $ 3.75° ${}^{\circ}$ (latitude by longitude) region ...

High‐energy synchrotron X‐ray multimodal computed tomography: enabling multiscale materials characterization at NSLS‐II

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 33, Issue 2, Page 531-542, March 2026.
The development of multimodal X‐ray computed tomography capabilities, including imaging, fluorescence, diffraction, and scattering, at the 28‐ID‐2 beamline of the National Synchrotron Light Source II is described. We report the commissioning of a multimodal computed tomography experimental setup at the 28‐ID‐2 (XPD) beamline of the National Synchrotron ...

Enhanced below‐ground functioning is associated with higher plant resistance against drought: Implications for ecosystem functions

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 3, March 2026.
The results suggest that the subordinate species achieves higher drought resistance in biomass and soil functions via increased below‐ground functioning. The data presented here provide a basis to explain the underlying mechanisms behind the response of grassland communities and their C cycling to drought.

“A lot of the answers come from within you as well”: benefits and limitations to utilizing and adapting a virtual platform to enhance social interaction and group learning

open access: yesBMC Digital Health
Background HIV disproportionately impacts Black women in the Southern United States. Interventions that incorporate social support and group learning have been proven effective, but following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, public health research has

Reshaping disaster management: An integrated community‐led approach

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Public Administration, Volume 85, Issue 1, Page 3-30, March 2026.
Abstract The management of disasters has traditionally involved public, private, and nongovernmental organisations working together. While scholars have examined the value of collaborations among these entities, less is known about how to successfully engage and empower communities in disaster management.
