Synergistic Effect of Silanized Ramie Fiber and Montmorillonite Clay on the Mechanical, Thermal, and Dynamic‐Mechanical Properties of Polyester Composites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Multiscale composite reinforced with silane‐modified ramie fiber and clay. ABSTRACT Multiscale polymer composites combining natural fibers and layered silicates can balance stiffness, toughness, and thermal stability when interfacial interactions are properly engineered.

Contextual Updating in Attentional Orienting Relies on the Right Temporoparietal Junction: Evidence From rTMS. [PDF]

open access: yesEur J Neurosci
The right temporoparietal junction (rTPJ) has been proposed to support both attentional reorienting and contextual updating. Using online rTMS during a location‐cueing task, we dissociated these mechanisms and tested rTPJ involvement. rTPJ disruption was found to selectively impair contextual updating without affecting attentional reorienting ...

Eye position representation in human anterior parietal cortex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Eye position helps locate visual targets relative to one's own body and modulates the distribution of attention in visual space. Whereas in the monkey, proprioceptive eye position signals have been recorded in the somatosensory cortex, in humans, no ...

Exploration of the use of short‐wave infrared radiances in weather forecasts model Part II: Data assimilation and forecast impact assessment

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
The standalone non‐local thermodynamic equilibrium (NLTE) bias correction schemes, utilizing a look‐up‐table and a linear regression method developed in Part I and new quality control procedures for short‐wave infrared radiances (SWIR), were tested within a data assimilation framework.

On the Executability of Interactive Computation

open access: yes, 2016
The model of interactive Turing machines (ITMs) has been proposed to characterise which stream translations are interactively computable; the model of reactive Turing machines (RTMs) has been proposed to characterise which behaviours are reactively ...

Integrating terrestrial and canopy laser scanning for comprehensive analysis of large old trees: Implications for single tree and biodiversity research

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Canopy laser scanning (CLS) enhances 3D measurements of large trees by lifting laser scanners into the canopy. Combining CLS with terrestrial laser scanning improves point cloud precision, reduces occlusion and enables detailed assessments of tree architecture and canopy biodiversity, opening new opportunities for forest ecology.

Temporal discrimination: Mechanisms and relevance to adult-onset dystonia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Temporal discrimination is the ability to determine that two sequential sensory stimuli are separated in time. For any individual, the temporal discrimination threshold (TDT) is the minimum interval at which paired sequential stimuli are perceived as ...
