A magnetic stimulation examination of orthographic neighborhood effects in visual word recognition

open access: yes, 2003
The split-fovea theory proposes that visual word recognition is mediated by the splitting of the foveal image, with letters to the left of fixation projected to the right hemisphere (RH) and letters to the right of fixation projected to the left ...

Experimental and Numerical Investigation on the Dynamic Impact Response of Hat‐Shaped Basalt Fiber‐Reinforced Polymer Composite Structures With Improved Interfacial Properties

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue S2, Page S733-S749, 20 June 2026.
Graphical abstract illustrating the experimental design and key findings of the study. ABSTRACT Basalt fiber‐reinforced polymer (BFRP) composites are gaining attention as sustainable alternatives to conventional fiber‐reinforced polymers owing to their favorable mechanical properties and environmental advantages.

The Role of Interfacial Shear Strength in Composite Performance

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue S2, Page S918-S932, 20 June 2026.
Plasma‐modified fibre interfaces: effects on interfacial shear strength and composite fracture behaviour. ABSTRACT This study investigates the role of interfacial shear strength (ISS) in governing the mechanical behavior of fiber‐reinforced composites through an experimental approach.

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 6, Page 1197-1212, June 2026.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

TREATMENT OF SHIZOPHRENIC PATIENTS AND rTMS

open access: yesPsychiatria Danubina, 2011
schizophrenia (SCH) is a heterogeneous syndrome characterized by positive and negative symptoms. Despite appropriate medication, about 1/4 of patients suffer for refractory positive and/or negative symptoms, which are associated with functional handicap, increase of duration and of the number of hospitalizations.

scResponse: A Rank‐Based Method for Identifying Cell States That Contribute to Immunotherapy Response by Single‐Cell Data

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 31, 4 June 2026.
Although the tumor microenvironment is known to shape immunotherapy response, its key determinants remain elusive, underscoring the critical need for single‐cell resolution analytical frameworks. We present scResponse, an efficient algorithm to quantify single‐cell responses to immunotherapy. By capturing diverse cellular subtypes and states associated

Brain activity changes after high/low frequency stimulation in a nonhuman primate model of central post-stroke pain

open access: yesScientific Reports
Central post-stroke pain (CPSP) is a chronic pain resulting from a lesion in somatosensory pathways. Neuromodulation techniques, such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) that target the primary motor cortex (M1), have shown promise for

Distinct Biotypes of Visual Perception in Major Depressive Disorder

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 31, 4 June 2026.
In a discover dataset (272 acute MDD patients), this work identifies a novel depression biotype characterized by impaired visual motion perception, using machine learning clustering. An independent dataset confirms the robustness of this biotype through cross‐validation and demonstrates its generalizability.

Functional Brain Network Predictors of Abstinence Treatment Outcomes in Methamphetamine Use Disorder

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2026.
Baseline whole‐brain functional connectivity predicted 1‐year abstinence response in methamphetamine use disorder at the individual level. Multi‐level network analyses revealed distinct response‐related connectivity patterns involving control‐related circuits.
