Species Richness of Freshwater Fish Trophic Guilds Increases With Tropical River Discharge and Decreases With Variability

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2025.
Contrary to the trophic theory of island biogeography the slope of predators does not increase with discharge when used to replace area. However, dry season discharge and variability in annual discharge are more strongly correlated with omnivore and invertivore guilds of freshwater fish than other discharge metrics.

Global Perspectives on Barriers to Oral Health Care Access for Afghan Refugee Women and Girls: A Scoping Review Protocol

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 8, Issue 10, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Afghanistan's recent shift in political landscape has intensified gender‐based challenges. The restrictive gender norms and practices have profound implications for the well‐being of Afghan women and girls. Among dental professionals, there is limited awareness about the trauma and barriers that impact a refugee's ability to access ...

Pain‐related fear induces aberrant drop jump landing biomechanics in healthy and anterior cruciate ligament reconstructed females

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, Volume 33, Issue 10, Page 3553-3561, October 2025.
Abstract Purpose Rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a prevalent and debilitating injury typically arising from aberrant biomechanics during landing or deceleration tasks. Pain‐related fear, a component of kinesiophobia, has been associated with poor functional outcomes and altered movement patterns in individuals with ACL reconstruction

Space‐Time‐Modulated Metasurface Enabled High‐Performance Near‐Field Focusing with Enhanced Phase Modulation

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 19, Issue 19, October 7, 2025.
This study leverages STM technology to enhance NFF performance by enabling continuous phase control at the +1st harmonic without increasing hardware complexity. It overcomes the limitations of conventional 1‐bit TMs caused by phase quantization errors and demonstrates that even compact arrays can achieve effective focusing, highlighting the strong ...
