Genetic and phenotypic responses to habitat fragmentation in a European harvester ant
Insect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 18, Issue 6, Page 1053-1068, November 2025.Our work highlights the use of multiple approaches to evaluate species responses to habitat fragmentation. Less allelic richness in habitats with fewer ant nests and reduced heterozygosity with less allelic richness indicated inbreeding; smaller gyne mesosoma size in less connected habitats indicated reduced flight ability.
