Toward Fully Soft and Multifunctional Shape Sensing via Optical Waveguide Arrays
This work develops a sheet made with arrays of soft optical fibers that can reconstruct its 3D surface shape. Synergy of the waveguides’ responses to bending and pressing force allows shape reconstruction with resilience to damage. Applied onto surfaces of robotic or living systems, our design can be implemented in virtual reality, teleoperation ...

Phenetic Relationship of Rubber Tree Clones
Twenty clones of the breeding population of Hevea brasiliensis were evaluated for phenetic diversity. The test-clones included six clones developed in Nigeria, ten Malaysian clones, two clones from Indonesia and a clone from each of Brazil and Sri Lanka. Data collected on fifteen seed characters in 1998 and 1999 were utilized for multivariate analysis.

Inspired by human touch, a tendon‐driven soft robotic finger combines multimodal tactile sensing and deep learning to simultaneously perceive texture and softness on deformable surfaces. A CNN‐LSTM model fuses pressure, accelerometer, and gyroscope signals to accurately classify material properties, achieving up to 95.4% texture and 97.0% softness ...

Thermally Drawn Bioelectric Catheters: Enabling Proprioceptive Endovascular Navigation
This work introduces a novel bioelectric navigation system eliminates the need for harmful fluoroscopy during endovascular surgeries. A bespoke 16‐electrode catheter is fabricated using rapid thermal drawing and laser micro‐machining. Paired with a real‐time tracking algorithm fusing vascular geometry detection and distance estimation, this technology ...

Seasonal Fluctuations of Plastochromanol‐8 and α‐Tocopherol Amounts in the Leaves of Cecropia Trees
ABSTRACT Plastochromanol‐8 (PC‐8) is a homologue of γ‐tocotrienol with a longer side chain (eight instead of three isoprene units) and therefore also a representative of the tocochromanol (vitamin E) group. PC‐8 has been determined in various plants and seeds, with Cecropia sp. leaves showing unusually high levels.

Contrasts in Areas of Rubber Tree Clones in Regard to Soil and Biomass Carbon Stocks
Rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) crop may accumulate significant amounts of carbon either in biomass or in the soil. However, a comprehensive understanding of the potential of the C stock among different rubber tree clones is still distant, since clones ...

Descriptive, comparative, and functional anatomy of the facial musculature in cattle (Bos taurus)
Abstract Facial expressions can provide insight into animal emotions and pain, but no standardized system for assessing the entire facial display in cattle (Bos taurus Linnaeus) exists. The Facial Action Coding System (FACS), originally developed for humans, identifies distinct facial movements based on mimetic muscles.
