Management of internal haemorrhoids by rubber-band ligation

open access: yesJournal of British Surgery, 1971
Abstract Rubber-band ligation has been used in the treatment of 156 patients with internal haemorrhoids. The treatment was performed without anaesthesia in an out-patient clinic. Only one pile was ligated at each visit and 77 per cent of the patients required either two or three ligations.

Influence of haem environment on the catalytic properties of the tetrathionate reductase TsdA from Campylobacter jejuni [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Bifunctional diheme cytochrome c thiosulfate dehydrogenases/tetrathionate reductases (TsdA) exhibit different catalytic properties depending on the source organism.

Surgical Induction of Mid‐Thoracic Aortic Coarctation in Mice: A Reproducible Preclinical Model of Pressure‐Induced Vascular Remodeling

open access: yesCurrent Protocols, Volume 6, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Elevated arterial pressure is a key contributor to cardiovascular disease, yet experimental models that isolate the effects of pressure from confounding systemic factors remain limited. We describe a reproducible surgical protocol to induce mid‐thoracic aortic coarctation in mice, generating a stable and quantifiable arterial pressure gradient

Evaluation of Tripple Rubber Band Ligation for Haemorrhoids

open access: yesGomal Journal of Medical Sciences, 2010
Background: Haemorrhoids is a common problem. Although excisional haemorrhoidectomy is time tested and valuable yet a major and painful procedure. We aimed to evaluate less extensive minor procedure of rubber band ligation for patients suffering from ...

Direct measurement of the mechanical work during translocation by the ribosome. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A detailed understanding of tRNA/mRNA translocation requires measurement of the forces generated by the ribosome during this movement. Such measurements have so far remained elusive and, thus, little is known about the relation between force and ...

Comparative efficacy of varicocelectomy and intrauterine insemination in varicocoele patients with mild semen abnormalities: An observational study

open access: yesAndrology, Volume 14, Issue 2, Page 487-495, February 2026.
Abstract Background Varicocoele is a common cause of male infertility, affecting spermatogenesis through increased testicular temperature, venous stasis, and oxidative stress. Microsurgical subinguinal varicocelectomy improves semen quality, whereas intrauterine insemination is widely used for mild male factor infertility.
