Rubber supported hydrostatic thrust bearings with rigid bearing surfaces
Tribology International, 1997Abstract The film pressure of tilted hydrostatic thrust bearings results in a tilt opposing moment. This self-aligning action of the tilt opposing moment can be used effectively to reduce the deflection of the film contour. For this reduction some adjustment (elasticity) of the bearing system is necessary.

Water-Lubricated Soft-Rubber Bearings
Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1932Abstract Rubber bearings lubricated with water are found to have remarkably low coefficients of friction and to give excellent service under many conditions. The softness of the rubber makes these bearings stand up in the presence of sand and grit, and it also makes the laws of lubrication governing these bearings differ from the ...

Experimental Study of FRP Rubber Bearing
Advanced Materials Research, 2010FRP (fiber reinforce polymer) rubber bearing is a novel isolator improved from traditional laminated rubber bearing. Several specimens were manufactured to study the mechanic properties of FRP rubber bearing. Vertical experiments are conducted to study the compression capacity and compression modulus of the bearing and horizontal experiments are ...

The Dissolution of Vulcanized Rubbers and Its Bearing on Problems of Rubber Analysis
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1954Abstract Dissolution of a sample of vulcanized rubber is a necessary preliminary to several analytical procedures, e.g., the determination of iodine value or total fillers. If an infallible and convenient agent were available for this process, then doubtless other analytical procedures would be possible of development or improvement and ...

Peripherally restraining type rubber bearing
Die Angewandte Makromolekulare Chemie, 1996AbstractSeismic isolation was reconfirmed to be extremely efficient for the protection of buildings, and hence human life, on the occasion of the Great Hanshin Earthquake. Rubber bearings are placed under the buildings for isolation, and thus the type of rubber bearings is a dominant factor for efficient isolation.

Experimental Investigations on Laminated Rubber Bearings
Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering, 2005Increasing application of base isolation as a seismic protection method has subsequently increased its analytical and experimental studies. Being the most critical part of the base isolated buildings, accurate evaluation of structural properties and precise modeling of isolation devices is of utmost importance in predicting the response of the ...

Steel-rubber seismic isolation bearing
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1998A seismic isolation bearing for bridges, buildings and machines with steel reinforced rubber body and external or internal tapered steel pin uniform yielders. The pins are fixed to load plates and intersect in mid plate or in the bearing body. External pins may be threaded ended to be used with nuts and other hardware as temporary press for assembly ...

Modeling of High Damping Rubber Bearings
2017High damping rubber bearings have been used in the seismic isolation of buildings worldwide for almost 30 years now. After a brief introduction to the process leading to their manufacturing, a description is given of the main tests required by current seismic codes for the design of such devices.

Laminated Rubber Bearings for Seismic Applications
2004In this chapter a short presentation of the general principles of the base isolation technique and of the demonstration of its efficiency is presented. A few real applications as well as the results coming from the installed monitoring systems are shown.
