Tester for study of rolling element bearings [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
Five-ball fatigue tester makes possible the study of rolling element phenomena. The device consists of a driven test ball pyramided upon four lower balls positioned by a separator and free to rotate in an angular contact ...

Chirotherium barthii Kaup 1835 from the Triassic of the Isle of Arran, Scotland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The mould of a track from SE Arran, and several in situ trackways and individual tracks, as well as a partial trackway on a loose block of Triassic sandstone, from western Arran, represent the first verifiable fossil tracks of Chirotherium from the ...

Ammonium Salts as Curing Agents to Obtain Ionic Epoxy Resins With a Thermoplastic‐to‐Thermoset Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.

Creep Characteristic of Rubber on Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication of Water-lubricated Rubber Bearing

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2018
Considering the creep characteristics of the rubber bearing material, the infinite line contact model of the water-lubricated bearing is established, based on the Kelvin model and the three-parameter model, the elastohydrodynamic lubrication of water ...

Liquids as Reinforcements for Anisotropic and Tough Soft Matter Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid metal droplets are shaped and oriented within soft elastomers to create all‐soft matter composites with programmable mechanical anisotropy. These liquid inclusions act as fiber‐like reinforcements, enabling directional stiffness, enhanced toughness, and controlled crack steering under extreme deformation, offering new routes to resilient soft ...

Damage detection of bearing in gear case by using piezoelectric element incorporated in hanging rubber for gear case of rolling stock (Evaluation of defection performance by bench test)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2020
A gear case used at a bogie of a rolling stock is an important part to pack a small gear and a large gear that pass the driving force from a main mortar to a wheel.

A statistical theory of polymer network degradation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A statistical theory was proposed for the degradation (random scission of chains) of a network having f-functional nodes in the case where all chains contain equireactive groups and a chain scission event does not create new groups or suppress more than ...

A Comprehensive Review of Waste‐Derived Materials for Solar Still Performance Enhancement

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Solar desalination reduces energy use and produces freshwater sustainably, but its productivity is limited and cannot meet rising demand. Thus, solar desalination system improvements are sought to boost water productivity. Waste materials are abundantly available and burden the environment, making them low‐cost enhancers for solar desalination

On the Design and Lubrication of Water-Lubricated, Rubber, Cutlass Bearings Operating in the Soft EHL Regime

open access: yesLubricants, 2020
All propeller-driven ships employ a drive shaft supported by journal bearings. To avoid water pollution, these bearings are generally lubricated by the surrounding water, removing the need for a rear seal.
