Production of natural rubber from Para rubber tree

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology, 2009
Natural rubber is one of the most important polymers produced by plants because it is a strategic raw material used in more than 40,000 products. It has unique properties as a polymer owing to its specific structure, its high molecular weight and yet-to-be-defined contributions of minor components in the latex.

The tree that responds: taming the rubber tree [PDF]

open access: yesVibrant: Virtual Brazilian Anthropology, 2019
Abstract The starting point of this article is the assertion, common among tappers (or seringueiros) in plantations in the interior of São Paulo, that it is necessary to tame rubber trees (Hevea brasiliensis) at the beginning of each harvest. They use this phrase to indicate the need to accustom the trees, from the first cuts, to establish an optimal ...

Integrating physiological and transcriptomic analyses identifies key regulators of latex regeneration in Hevea brasiliensis

open access: yesIndustrial Crops and Products
The rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis Muell. Arg.) represents the primary commercial source of natural rubber worldwide. Rubber yield in this species is critically dependent on latex regeneration capacity, which varies substantially among clones such as ...

Functional annotation of genomic sequences of Hevea brasiliensis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) is a recent domesticated endemic tree species from Amazonian rain forest. It is an important crop to rubber industries due the latex producing, which has better quality compared to the synthetic rubber.

Microbial Odorant Detection Guides Drosophila Parasitoids Seeking Hosts in Fermenting Fruits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Yeast microbes in fermenting fruits attract both host flies and their parasitoid wasps. Female Leptopilina boulardi detect yeast‐emitted ethyl esters via two olfactory receptors, LbouOR167 and LbouOR136. A conserved residue, Leu159, is critical for binding these compounds, enabling female wasps to locate host‐rich habitats.

Genome sequencing of a Hevea brasiliensis for single nucleotide polymorphism discovery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The rubber tree (Hevea spp.), is the primary plant used in natural rubber production. Historically, the breeding of rubber trees has been based on techniques involving statistics and quantitative genetic approaches to determine the best genotypes to be ...

Self‐Adhesive Conductive Elastomers for Gel‐Free Biopotential Recording

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
σPOMaC, a self‐adhesive conductive citrate elastomer incorporating PEDOT:PSS and DBSA, enables gel‐free biopotential electrodes with stable conductivity and intrinsic skin adhesion. The composite exhibits low resistivity (∼ 0.02 Ω·cm), robust electrical performance during repeated use, and reliable on‐body ECG acquisition comparable to Ag/AgCl ...

Genome-Wide Identification of AP2/ERF Family Genes in Rubber Tree: Two HbAP2/ERF Genes Regulate the Expression of Multiple Natural Rubber Biosynthesis Genes

open access: yesAgronomy
The AP2/ERF (APETALA2/ethylene-responsive factor) superfamily is one of the largest transcription factor families in plants and is not only vital for plant growth and development but also participates in responding to various abiotic stresses.

Intrinsic Mechanical Parameters and their Characterization in Solid‐State Lithium Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 15, Issue 11, March 18, 2025.
This review focuses on the intrinsic mechanical parameters and their associated characterization in solid‐state batteries. The physical significance of mechanics parameters is introduced with exhaustive classifications by elastic, plastic deformations and fracture in bulk, adhesion, friction at interfaces, and mechanical fatigue in cells ...
