SEISMIC PERFORMANCE OF RUBBERIZED CONCRETE IN STRUCTURAL APPLICATIONS
Rubberized concrete is a promising material for the structural elements, created by replacing sand with rubber particles in order to significantly reduce environmental impacts from large tyre waste with improved behaviour under earthquake loads. Experimental studies on nine columns and three frames were carried out in order to determine the capacity ...

Rubber crumb used in concrete to provide freeze-thaw protection [PDF]
This research has examined the use of rubber crumb, used as an additive to concrete that would provide maximum freeze-thaw protection to concrete. The rubber crumb as used in the paper was divided into five batches, with increasing particle size, graded

Numerical Analysis of Precast Rubberized Lightweight Concrete Wall Panel [PDF]
Precast concrete wall panels are common prefabricated building components used to replace conventional burnt clay bricks as non-load bearing walls. Recent researches focused on lightweight concrete wall panel due to its low density which would lead to ...

Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

Impact resistance of concrete – using slit rubber from tyres [PDF]
This paper examines recycled tyre rubber, which was machine cut into slits and these were added to Portland cement concrete mixes in different percentages, based on specimen volume. They were then tested to determine the impact performance of each mix in

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.
