The identity of Diplospora africana (Rubiaceae)
Diplospora africana Sim is shown to be a distinct species belonging to Tricalysia subg. Empogona sect. Kraussiopsis. It possesses the characteristics of this subgenus: Flowers with densely hairy corolla throat and appendiculate anthers, and fruits black at complete maturity.
