A simplified method for calculating the ac Stark shift of hyperfine levels

open access: yes, 2014
The ac Stark shift of hyperfine levels of neutral atoms can be calculated using the third order perturbation theory(TOPT), where the third order corrections are quadratic in the atom-photon interaction and linear in the hyperfine interaction.

Designing Defect Structure and Interfacial Strain in an Epitaxial VN Bilayer Film by Tailoring N Concentration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The N concentration in an epitaxial VN bilayer is tailored from overstoichiometric V0.49N0.51 to understoichiometric V0.56N0.44. Based on ab initio, diffraction, and microscopy data, the overstoichiometric V0.49N0.51 layer contains V vacancies, N Frenkel pairs, and a high density of dislocations.

Innovation and reliability of atomic standards for PTTI applications [PDF]

open access: yes
Innovation and reliability in hyperfine frequency standards and clock systems are discussed. Hyperfine standards are defined as those precision frequency sources and clocks which use a hyperfine atomic transition for frequency control and which have ...

Feedback control of trapped coherent atomic ensembles

open access: yes, 2013
We demonstrate how to use feedback to control the internal states of trapped coherent ensembles of two-level atoms, and to protect a superposition state against the decoherence induced by a collective noise.

Nonmulberry Silk Fibroin Doping Boosts Charge Transfer and Charge Injection in Aligned Polypyrrole‐Silk Scaffolds for Low‐Voltage Neurostimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Conductive silk‐polypyrrole scaffolds couple redox stability with cell‐affinitive peptides present innately in an endogenous silk fibroin, enabling optimized electrical stimulation to drive neurite outgrowth. Findings establish electrochemical‐biological link for biomaterial design rules for smart nerve guidance conduits that can provide low voltage ...

Ramsey spectroscopy of high-contrast CPT resonances with push-pull optical pumping in Cs vapor

open access: yes, 2013
We report the detection of high-contrast and narrow Coherent Population Trapping (CPT) Ramsey fringes in a Cs vapor cell using a simple-architecture laser system. The latter allows the combination of push-pull optical pumping (PPOP) and a temporal Ramsey-

Tailored Nickel Oxide Interfacial Layers Unlock Enhanced Charge Dynamics in LaTiOxNy Thin Film Photoanodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study highlights the importance of designing photoanode architectures for solar water splitting that align intrinsic material properties with functional interfaces to optimize the extraction of photogenerated charges. The incorporation of NiOx surface layers in LaTiO2.5N0.5 (LTON) thin film photoanodes exemplifies this approach by leveraging band ...
