We study the magnetic-field-induced frequency shift (MFS) of the reference resonance in a coherent population trapping (CPT) microwave atomic clock. It is shown that the use of the Pound–Drever–Hall-like technique for frequency locking provides brilliant

Progress of the Portable Rubidium Atomic Fountain Clock in SIOM
2013A portable 87Rb atomic fountain clock has been constructed and researched in Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, and some improvements have been made recently. So far, comparison data with the H-maser shows that, the Allan deviation of the relative frequency stability of this fountain clock is 5.0 × 10−13τ−1/2, which reaches 2.6 × 10−15 at

Review of Scientific Instruments
We designed a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) fabric to provide phase modulation techniques to lock lasers to optical frequency references. The method incorporates an active residual amplitude modulation (RAM) suppression scheme that relies on ...

The Compact Laser System for Pulsed Optically Pumped Rubidium Atomic Clock
2019 Joint Conference of the IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium and European Frequency and Time Forum (EFTF/IFC), 2019In this paper, we propose an implementation of the compact laser system for POP rubidium atomic clock. The compact system consists of the miniaturized optical platform and the laser driving and control electronic module, and the two parts with the same length and width are stacked together to ensure the output laser beam is exactly incident to rubidium

Introducing AI to Atomic Clocks for Improving Holdover
European Frequency and Time ForumRubidium holdover clocks must be designed to operate autonomously for months or years without human intervention. However, its long-term stability is affected by component ageing and environmental effects, which cause linear frequency drift as well as ...

Microwave cavity design for an optically-pumped rubidium atomic beam clock
2013 Joint European Frequency and Time Forum & International Frequency Control Symposium (EFTF/IFC), 2013We design a microwave cavity for our developing compact optically-pumped rubidium beam frequency standard. For clock transition of 87Rb (F=2, mF=0 to F=1, mF=0), the central frequency is 6.8347GHz. The cavity made of WR90 waveguide in previous cesium beam clocks no longer works.

Rubidium Atomic Clock with Improved Metrological Characteristics for Satellite Communication System
2017One of the essential elements of satellite communication system is an atomic clock. The proper operation of this system depends on the performance of atomic clock. In this paper one of the directions of modernization of the rubidium atomic clocks is considered. A new design of the frequency synthesis circuitry is presented.
