Phylogeny and classification of the subfamily Rubioideae (Rubiaceae)
We performed phylogenetic analyses of the subfamily Rubioideae (Rubiaceae) based on three different pieces of chloroplast DNA, the protein codingrbcL gene, the spacer sequence betweenatpB andrbcL (atpB-rbcL), and the recently published (Andersson and Rova 1999)rps16 intron data.

Morphology, anatomy, and taxonomic position of Pagameopsis (Rubiaceae-Rubioideae)
Morphological and anatomical features (including wood anatomy and pollen morphology) of the small neotropical genusPagameopsis (Rubiaceae-Rubioideae) are discussed and illustrated. The fused ovaries, fenestrate corolla tube, basally attached anther filaments, and absence of raphides are especially noteworthy.Pagameopsis is definitely not a member of ...

Abstract—The sister group of the monophyletic tribe Argostemmateae, includingArgostemmaandNeurocalyx, is not the tribe Hedyotideae, or a part of it, as earlier assumed, but the monophyletic tribe Hamelieae, here redefined. It comprises the generaHamelia, Hoffmannia(here includingXerococcus), Deppea(here includingSchenckia), Pinarophyllon, andOmiltemia.

Paraphyly of Paederieae, recognition of Putorieae and expansion of Plocama (Rubiaceae‐Rubioideae)
Phylogenetic analyses of taxa that have been included in the tribe Paederieae are performed on the basis of a molecular dataset of plastid DNA sequences (the rbcL gene, rps16 intron, and the regions trnT‐F). The paraphyly of Paederieae as currently circumscribed is confirmed.

The pantropical genus Psychotria L., probably the largest among angiosperms, occurs in different Brazilian vegetal formations. This work determined the chromosome numbers and karyotypic characteristics of ten species of Brazilian Psychotria. The chromosome numbers ranged from 2n = 22, in five species (P. hoffmannseggiana (Willd. ex Roem.

Morphological Evidence for an Extended Tribe ‐ Coccocypseleae (Rubiaceae‐Rubioideae)
Plant Biology, 2000Abstract: Coccocypselum is a small neotropical genus of creeping herbs belonging to the Rubiaceae (Rubioideae). A recent macromolecular study suggested a previously unknown relationship between Coccocypselum and two other neotropical genera, Declieuxia and Hindsia, but the morphological evidence for this relationship was obscure. In the present paper,

Pollen morphological survey of Pentas (Rubiaceae–Rubioideae) and its closest allies
Review of Palaeobotany and Palynology, 2000Pollen descriptions, based on LM and SEM observations, are provided for the Pentas complex, an African alliance within the Hedyotideae-Spermacoceae alliance, which includes the genera Pentas, Otomeria, Batopedina, Parapentas, and Chamaepentas. The close relationship among these genera is confirmed by pollen morphological data. The observed variation in

Argostemma bachmaense (Rubiaceae, Rubioideae, Argostemmateae), a new species from central Vietnam
Nordic Journal of Botany, 2020Argostemma bachmaense , a new species from central Vietnam, is described and illustrated here. The new species is most similar to A. laoticum and A. vietnamicum but can be distinguished from the latter two by having a well‐developed ...

Manipulus Rubiacearum III. Deppeeae, a New Tribe of Rubioideae (Rubiaceae)
Brittonia, 1984A new tribe,Deppeeae, in subfamily Rubioideae Verdc. of the Neotropical Rubiaceae is described. It is easily distinguished by the presence of raphides, contorted or modified alternative aestivation of the corolla, numerous small ovules, and placenta attached to the middle of the septum.
