In dealing with the Psychotria peduncularis (Salisb.) Steyermark complex (as Cephaelis peduncularis Salisb.), Hepper (Fl. W. Trop. Afr. ed. 2, 2: 203-4 (1963)) had to recognize numerous varieties. A similar treatment has been found necessary but to a lesser degree in dealing with the species in East Africa.

Chromosomes of Neotropical Rubiaceae. I: Rubioideae

This paper presents chromosome data for 130 accessions of 91 species or subspecific taxa representing 26 genera of Neotropical Rubioideae (Rubiaceae). It includes the first chromosome counts for the tribe Perameae, for 11 genera, and for 71 species and subspecific taxa.

The genus Gentingia (Rubiaceae, Rubioideae) is described to accommodate the species G. subsessilis. It is a small tree or shrub with white, sessile or almost sessile, terminal flowers and glossy blackish, 1- or 2-seeded drupes, and is known only from submontane rain forests in NW. Peninsular Malaysia.

A new species of Gynochtides (Rubiaceae, Rubioideae) from Australia

The genus Gynochtodes Blume ( Rubiaceae, Rubioideae) is reported from Australia for the first time and the new species, G. australiensis J T Johansson, which occurs in the Northern Territory and Queensland, is described and illustrated. A map of its distribution is provided.

Pollen morphology in Psychotria (Rubiaceae, Rubioideae, Psychotrieae) and its taxonomic significance. A preliminary survey

The pollen morphology in 168 species of Psychotria (Rubiaceae, Rubiodeae, Psychotrieae) has been investigated using light microscopy and, for 61 of the speices, scanning electron microscopy. Transmission electron microscopical studies have been carried out for seven of the species.
