A comparative study across ligand‐stabilized gold nanoparticles and surfactant micelles reveals that molecular imprinting strongly depends on the nanoplatform used for imprinting. “Frustrated” noncovalent interactions within the monolayer on gold nanoparticle surface can be exploited to improve both the binding affinity and selectivity for ...

PRDE-1 is a nuclear factor essential for the biogenesis of Ruby motif-dependent piRNAs in C. elegans
Piwi-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) are small regulatory RNAs with essential roles in genomic maintenance. Weick et al. identify prde-1 as a novel C. elegans piRNA biogenesis gene.

Europium doping of bismuth oxido nanoclusters (BiO‐NCs) provides stable hosts for Eu3+ in an asymmetric coordination environment, which in turn results in an intense 5D0→7F0 transition and long luminescence lifetimes. Transparent hybrid materials showing characteristic red photoluminescence are accessible via radical copolymerisation of these soluble ...

Abstract The synthesis and characterization of an amphiphilic nitroxide to be used as a controlling agent in a nitroxide‐mediated living radical polymerization in aqueous dispersion media is presented. In the first stage of nitroxide synthesis (phthalimide protection), two reaction methods were employed: traditional and microwave.

Experimental investigation of the transient dynamics of slow light in ruby
When a pulsed light beam propagates through ruby, it is delayed by a slow-light mechanism. This mechanism has been the subject of debate (Wisniewski-Barker et al 2013 New J. Phys.

Asymptotic properties of cross‐classified sampling designs
Abstract We investigate the family of cross‐classified sampling designs across an arbitrary number of dimensions. We introduce a variance decomposition that enables the derivation of general asymptotic properties for these designs and the development of straightforward and asymptotically unbiased variance estimators.

Photocatalytic Oxygen Evolution with Prussian Blue Coated ZnO Origami Core‐Shell Nanostructures
Prussian Blue and its derivative hold significant potential for photocatalytic oxygen evolution. IN this contribution the photocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) was characterized using a hybrid catalyst consisting of Prussian Blue coated ZnO nanostructures. The resulting heterojunction, which was characterized both structurally and functionally,
