RUBY, a Putative Galactose Oxidase, Influences Pectin Properties and Promotes Cell-To-Cell Adhesion in the Seed Coat Epidermis of Arabidopsis

open access: yesThe Plant Cell, 2019
A putative galactose oxidase, RUBY, promotes cell-to-cell adhesion between seed coat epidermal cells and modifies galactosylated RG-I pectin in the seed coat mucilage of Arabidopsis.

A Novel Perfused Full‐Thickness Human Skin Microphysiological System for Modeling Injury, Regeneration, Tumor Pathophysiology, and Therapeutics Development

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
What if human skin could remain fully alive and functional outside the body for weeks? A New Alternative Method (NAM) based on a vascularized full‐thickness skin microphysiological system achieves precisely this, preserving native vasculature, resident immunity, and metabolic activity for up to three weeks, while faithfully recapitulating radiation ...

Myeloid p38 activation maintains macrophage–liver crosstalk and BAT thermogenesis through IL‐12–FGF21 axis

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Physiological activation of myeloid p38 controls macrophage IL‐12 production and crosstalk to the liver by modulating hepatic FGF21, and subsequently, brown adipose tissue thermogenesis during obesity Abstract Obesity features excessive fat accumulation in several body tissues and induces a state of chronic low‐grade inflammation that contributes to ...

AI-guided digital intervention with physiological monitoring reduces intrusive memories after experimental trauma

open access: yesnpj Digital Medicine
Trauma prevalence is vast globally. Evidence-based digital treatments can help, but most require human guidance. Human guides provide tailored instructions and responsiveness to internal states, but limit scalability.

Resolving the Structural Duality of Graphene Grain Boundaries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Cantilever ncAFM resolves the atomic structure of grain boundaries in graphene, revealing coexisting stable and metastable types. Both contain pentagon/heptagon defects, but metastable GBs show irregular geometries. Modeling shows metastable GBs form under compression, exhibiting vertical corrugation, while stable GBs are flat.

A case of post-traumatic anterior cranial dural arteriovenous fistula

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Neurosurgery
Introduction Dural arteriovenous fistula (dAVF) is an abnormal connection between an artery supplying the brain and vein or a venous sinus draining it. They account 10–15% of total arteriovenous malformations and are mostly idiopathic.

Diversity in Ruby Geochemistry and Its Inclusions: Intra- and Inter- Continental Comparisons from Myanmar and Eastern Australia

open access: yesMinerals, 2019
Ruby in diverse geological settings leaves petrogenetic clues, in its zoning, inclusions, trace elements and oxygen isotope values. Rock-hosted and isolated crystals are compared from Myanmar, SE Asia, and New South Wales, East Australia.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and
