Diode pumped compact single frequency cw ruby laser

open access: yesJournal of Physics Communications, 2023
Investigations on 405 nm diode-pumped cw ruby lasers operated in less than 3 mm plane-parallel resonators are reported. With 2.5 mm long ruby crystals TEM _00 emission with output powers up to 40 mW are achieved.

Ruby laser transmission and the lens. [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Ophthalmology, 1970
The earliest recorded study of the transmission of light by the ocular *media is attributed to Aschkinass (1895), but according to Meyer-Schwickerath (I960) his method was grossly inaccurate. Luckiesh (I92 I) calculated the transmissivity of the ocular media on the basis that it equalled that of a layer of water 2-28 cm. thick.

Diode pumped cw ruby laser

open access: yesOSA Continuum, 2019
Cw laser oscillation of ruby at 694 nm in linear and ring resonators is reported for the first time, pumped with a 1 W laser diode at 405 nm as well as 445 nm. The ruby laser operates at room temperature with a threshold of 200 mW at 405 nm and 400 mW at

Bell Labs and the ruby laser [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Today, 2010
In 1960 two rival laboratories reported the creation of lasers. Controversy over priority and proper behavior has persisted for half a century. Now three Bell Labs veterans of that confused but exciting summer tell the story as they remember it.

Characterization of Hydrous Mineral Inclusions in Ruby and Sapphire by Infrared Spectroscopy and Microscopic Confocal Laser Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2019
BACKGROUND There are water molecules and hydrous mineral inclusions in natural ruby and sapphire. The hydrous minerals disappear easily after heat treatment, which causes the physical and chemical properties of ruby and sapphire to change.
