Ultrafast long-range spin-funneling in solution-processed Ruddlesden–Popper halide perovskites

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Spin-information transport or transfer is essential for spintronics applications and often relies on high purity and quality materials. Here, the authors report on the defect-tolerant solution-processed Ruddlesden–Popper halide perovskites, where a spin ...

Synergized Tri‐Phase Anode via Purposive Ba2+ Doping at the La3+ Site in LaFe0.7Ni0.3O3‐δ for Improved SOFC Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Purposive doping of low electronegative Ba2+ (0.89) at La3+ (1.1) site in LaFe0.7Ni0.3O3‐δ induces the formation of a tri‐phase composite, which shortens Fe─O bond and lowers activation energy, thereby significantly improves electrical conductivity and catalytic activity, and finally offers a record‐high peak power density in La0.5Ba0.5Fe0.7Ni0.3O3‐δ ...

Applying Configurational Complexity to the 2D Ruddlesden–Popper Crystal Structure [PDF]

open access: yesACS Nano, 2020
The 2D layered Ruddlesden-Popper crystal structure can host a broad range of functionally important behaviors. Here we establish extraordinary configurational disorder in a two dimensional layered Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) structure using entropy stabilization assisted synthesis.

Outstanding TC Enhancement in 5d–3d Y2NiIrO6 by Compression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Double perovskite Y2NiIrO6 with half filed 3d eg–5d t2g configuration, exhibits first experimental example of pressure‐enhanced magnetic interaction in iridate and iridate‐related systems. Its Curie temperature increase from 192 to 243 K at 17 GPa. Herein, the orthogonal eg–t2g pathway remains robust even under compression‐induced lattice distortion ...

Effect of dimensionality on the magnetic properties of Ruddlesden–Popper manganites

open access: yesPhysica B: Condensed Matter, 2000
Abstract We have measured the muon-spin relaxation (μSR) in La0.6Sr0.4MnO3 and in its layered sister system La1.2Sr1.8Mn2O7 to study the influence of dimensionality on their magnetic properties. Both compounds show ferromagnetic ordering with decreasing temperature. Above their Curie temperatures we followed the spin fluctuations.

In Situ Pseudo‐Halide Diffusion Enables Buried Interface Regulation and Crystallinity Enhancement in Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Thermally activated LiHCOO induces in situ pseudo‐halide diffusion, promoting buried interface strain release and perovskite crystallization. The monoclinic LiHCOO phase forms an open framework structure that enhances HCOO− diffusion and drives interfacial restructuring.

Epitaxial growth and electronic structure of Ruddlesden–Popper nickelates (Lan+1NinO3n+1, n = 1–5)

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2020
We report the epitaxial growth of Ruddlesden–Popper nickelates, Lan+1NinO3n+1, with n up to 5 by reactive molecular beam epitaxy. X-ray diffractions indicate high crystalline quality of these films, and transport measurements show strong dependence on ...

Beyond d‐Band Catalysis: A Critical Review and Descriptor Framework for Rare‐Earth Engineering in Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Rare‐earth catalysts regulate lithium–sulfur battery chemistry through f‐orbital–mediated interactions, enabling simultaneous polysulfide adsorption and catalytic conversion on conductive carbon hosts. This synergistic control suppresses the shuttle effect, accelerates redox kinetics, and guides stable Li2S nucleation, providing a mechanistic framework

Atomic scale imaging of competing polar states in a Ruddlesden–Popper layered oxide

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Competing phases in layered complex oxides are believed to be relevant for emergent phenomena, which still await to be witnessed. Here, Stone et al. report direct atomic-scale imaging of a multitude of polar phases in Ruddlesden-Popper oxide thin films ...
