Joule‐Assisted Nanotherapeutic Urethral Stent (JANUS) for Spatiotemporal Theragenerative Treatment of Urethral Strictures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Joule‐assisted nanotherapeutic urethral stent harnesses a smart, biodegradable magnesium stent to orchestrate spatiotemporal theragenerative therapy for urethral strictures. Magnetically induced Joule heating enables on‐demand drug release and bacterial ablation, while simultaneously guiding urothelial regeneration.

Error estimates for De Vylder type approximations in ruin theory [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Due to its practical use, De Vylder's approximation of the ruin probability has been one of the most popular approximations in ruin theory and its application to insurance. Surprisingly, only heuristic and numerical evidence has supported it, to some extent.

Convergence and asymptotic variance of bootstrapped finite-time ruin probabilities with partly shifted risk processes. [PDF]

open access: yes
The classical risk model is considered and a sensitivity analysis of finite-time ruin probabilities is carried out. We prove the weak convergence of a sequence of empirical finite-time ruin probabilities.

In Situ Formation of a Melt‐Solid Interface Toward Stable Oxygen Reduction in Protonic Ceramic Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
Protonic ceramic fuel cells offer a promising route to generate power efficiently but face critical challenges in achieving industrially viable activity and stability at their cathodes in CO2‐containing air. This report proposes a new cathode material design strategy to enable the cathode to be both catalytically active and CO2 tolerant through the ...

The Visible and the Invisible: Photographic Works by Patrick Hogan, Ailbhe Ní Bhriain and David Creedon

open access: yesÉtudes Britanniques Contemporaines, 2014
The three series of photographs under scrutiny waver between the documentary and the poetic, between realism and the imaginary. The result of long projects and research, they visually condense the experience of exile: they picture abandoned houses, or ...

Stopping strategies and gambler's ruin problem [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
We obtain absorption probabilities and expected time until absorption for different stopping strategies in gambler's ruin problem using the concept of multiple function ...

Dependent discrete risk processes –calculation of the probability of ruin [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper is devoted to discrete processes of dependent risks. The random variables describing the time between claims can be dependent in such processes, unlike under the classical approach.

Deciphering the Origin of Higher Shell Coordination on Single Iron Catalysts for Resilient Modulating Persulfate Oxidation Into Singlet Oxygen Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
This study reveals that higher shell S coordination can effectively modulate the spin state of FeN4 site via long‐range electronic interactions, giving rise to the oriented generation of singlet oxygen from peroxymonosulfate activation. Abstract Precise manipulation of coordination structure of single‐atom sites and establishment of schematic ...

A two-dimensional ruin problem on the positive quadrant [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
In this paper we study the joint ruin problem for two insurance companies that divide between them both claims and premia in some specified proportions (modeling two branches of the same insurance company or an insurance and re-insurance company). Modeling the risk processes of the insurance companies by Cram\'{e}r-Lundberg processes we obtain the ...
