Rule-Based Fractional Control of an Irrigation Canal
Journal of Computational and Nonlinear Dynamics, 2009In this paper, a SIMULINK simulation of a four-pool irrigation canal extant in Évora, Portugal is controlled using PID and fractional PID controllers, adjusted using an optimization method and tuning rules. Fractional control and rule-tuning emerge as the best options.

RULE BASED COMBUSTION DISTURBANCE PREDICTION AND CONTROL SYSTEM
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1994Abstract Combustion process of solid waste is very complicated because of a long dead time and delay time until combustion peak point from refuse supply. For the solution of automatic control on such a complicated system, we developed “Intelligent Combustion Control System for Refuse Incinerator” by application of AI technology which is very robust ...

A RULE-BASED NEURAL CONTROLLER FOR INVERTED PENDULUM SYSTEM
International Journal of Neural Systems, 1993This paper tries to demonstrate how a heuristic neural control approach can be used to solve a complex nonlinear control problem. The control task is to swing up a pendulum mounted on a cart from its stable position (vertically down) to the zero state (up right) and keep it there by applying a sequence of two opposing constant forces of equal ...

Autogeneration of Fuzzy Logic Rule-Base Controllers
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011A novel Fuzzy Logic controller design methodology is presented. The method utilizes a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) binary search algorithm to generate the rules for the Fuzzy Logic controller rule-base stage without human experience intervention.

Cooperative rule-based systems for aircraft control
26th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 1987This paper examines the application of artificial intelligence theory in the flight domain of a military aircraft. Nine rule-based systems were implemented to demonstrate complex system cooperation in combat aircraft operations. The organization of tasks within each rule-based system is described, and details of knowledge-base development and ...

RULE BASED INTERPOLATING CONTROL - FUZZY AND ITS ALTERNATIVES
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1994Abstract Design of control strategies based on heuristics is discussed. The most well-known example of this is fuzzy control. Fuzzy logic systems describe nonlinear mappings in terms of linguistic rules and an interpolative reasoning method. A useful tool for understanding advances in fuzzy control is proposed by considering the similarity between a ...

Rule Based Control of Hybrid Fes Orthoses
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1988Abstract A finite state model referenced control method for hybrid orthoses (HO) is introduced. A specific application of a finite state control system for crutch assisted reciprocal stepping using a novel HO is described. This system was based on an instrumented supracondylar knee ankle foot mechanical brace.
