Engineering Thermochemistry and Process Technologies to Enable Gigaton‐Scale Sustainable Biochar Production

open access: yesSusMat, EarlyView.
This review examines large‐scale biochar production technologies and process engineering from an engineering thermochemistry perspective. At the level of thermochemical fundamentals, we discuss thermochemical techniques, pyrolysis mechanisms, and key parameters governing biochar formation.

Understanding Complexities of Expatriate Coping and Adjustment: The Complementary Roles of Acceptance and Action

open access: yesThunderbird International Business Review, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This work aims to provide theoretical and practical insights into coping with expatriation challenges. We show that both acceptance and action (problem‐solving) are needed, to manage different aspects of expatriate life. These two coping strategies are complementary and, to be beneficial, need to be applied selectively.

Ecotoxicological Insights From Ex Vivo Exposure of Whole Blood to PFOS and Glyphosate: Oxidative Stress and Immune Disruption

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigated the immunomodulatory effects of PFOS and glyphosate (GLY), both individually and in combination, on the whole blood of three ruminant species (cow, goats, and sheep) exposed ex vivo to environmentally relevant concentrations. The research focused on key biomarkers of oxidative stress (MDA), inflammation (myeloperoxidase

Benzimidazole Anthelmintic Compounds Albendazole and Fenbendazole Show Distinct Toxicity on the Nitrogen Fixing Bacterium Mesorhizobium loti and Its Symbiosis With Lotus japonicus

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Veterinary medicines, which reach the soil mostly through the application of contaminated manures, can affect beneficial soil microorganisms, such as nitrogen‐fixing rhizobia bacteria, which engage in important symbiotic associations with plants.

Effect of butorphanol in combination with xylazine during castration of calves: A randomised trial under field conditions

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background In horses, cats and dogs, the opioid butorphanol has been proven effective in management of visceral pain and for peri‐ and postoperative pain relief. The aim of this study was to evaluate physiological responses and indicators of noxious stimuli when adding butorphanol to xylazine for sedation of bull calves during surgical ...
