Functional continuous Runge–Kutta–Nyström methods
Numerical methods for solving retarded functional differential equations of the second order with right-hand side independent of the function derivative are considered. The approach used by E. Nyström for second-order ordinary differential equations with

Structure-Preserving Analysis of Skeleton Structure of Solar Sail in the Deploying Process [PDF]
For the simplified dynamic model of the skeleton structure of solar sail in the solar power satellite via arbitrarily large phased array system (SPS-ALPHA) in the deploying process, the symplectic method is employed to simulate the dynamic behaviors of ...

Clean Up Behind You ‐ Novel Patterning Approach for Solid Immersion Lenses
A focused ion beam (FIB) milling strategy enables rapid fabrication of solid immersion lenses (SILs) with smooth, debris‐free surfaces eliminating the need for post‐processing. The optimized pattern improves efficiency and surface quality. SILs containing NV centers are also investigated, confirming the technique's suitability for quantum and photonic ...

Strong Stability Preserving Integrating Factor Runge-Kutta Methods [PDF]
Strong stability preserving (SSP) Runge-Kutta methods are often desired when evolving in time problems that have two components that have very different time scales.

Continuum Mechanics Modeling of Flexible Spring Joints in Surgical Robots
A new mechanical model of a tendon‐actuated helical extension spring joint in surgical robots is built using Cosserat rod theory. The model can implicitly handle the unknown contacts between adjacent coils and numerically predict spring shapes from straight to significantly bent under actuation forces.

The author investigates two-step methods which use derivative evaluations at the beginning of the last and of the current step together with off- step values in the current step to construct families of explicit and implicit hybrid methods. He shows for \(r=2,3,4\), explicit methods using r off-step points of order \(r+3\) do not exist. The claims that

Terahertz resonances in crystalline heterostructures could close a spectral gap between conventional electronics and photonics while opening new windows on non‐equilibrium lattice dynamics. Femtosecond optical screening of the depolarization field in epitaxial PbTiO3/SrTiO3 superlattices launches a collective polar mode that oscillates near 1 THz and ...

High-Order Special Two-Derivative Runge–Kutta Pairs
This paper presents the development and analysis of novel explicit special two-derivative Runge–Kutta (STDRK) pairs for the numerical integration of ordinary differential equations (ODEs), with a focus on achieving seventh-order accuracy and embedded ...

A Runge-Kutta triple is obtained by adding a third Runge-Kutta formula to an embedded pair. The authors discuss the construction and implementation of Runge-Kutta triples and test the efficiency of a certain optimal triple by application to the gravitational two-body problem.
