On‐Demand Deconstructable Thermosets Through Cleavable Comonomer and Thermolatent Base Synergy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Thermosets, valued for their chemical and mechanical properties, resist recycling due to their cross‐linked structure. Weak bonds via comonomers enable degradability, but diffusion limits effectiveness. We incorporate thermolatent bases before polymerization (thermal or 3D‐VAT printing).

Multi-model climatic water balance prediction in the Zala River Basin (Hungary) based on a modified Budyko framework

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology and Hydromechanics, 2020
Providing information on the impacts of climate change on hydrological processes is becoming ever more critical. Modelling and evaluating the expected changes of the water resources over different spatial and time scales can be useful in several fields ...

Alternative Policy Designs to Help Farmers Select Profitable Conservation Practices

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Voluntary private carbon initiatives (VPCIs) promote the implementation of agricultural conservation practices that mitigate emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) via financial incentives to participating farmers. Simultaneously, an array of public policies supports the adoption of conservation practices through technical and financial ...

L'érosion et le ruissellement des sols rouges dans les monts de Zariffet-Algérie : utilisation de simulation de pluies [PDF]

open access: yesCinq Continents, 2015
Red - soil erosion and runoff in Zariffet - Algérie Mountains: utilising rain simulation. Soil is slowly renewable resource and once lost, gives a field that will not be as productive for many years.

A Comprehensive Approach to Assess the Hydrological Drought of Inland River Basin in Northwest China

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2018
How to measure and quantitatively assess hydrological drought (HD) in the inland river basins of Northwest China is a difficult problem because of the complicated geographical environment and climatic processes.

Runoff on rooted trees [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Probability, 2019
AbstractWe introduce an idealised model for overland flow generated by rain falling on a hillslope. Our prime motivation is to show how the coalescence of runoff streams promotes the total generation of runoff. We show that, for our model, as the rate of rainfall increases in relation to the soil infiltration rate there is a distinct phase change.

Cost‐Benefit Analysis of the European Union Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism in Fertilizer Trade

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM), launching 2026, will charge EU importers for embedded carbon emissions, aiming to reduce emissions but raising import costs. Shifts in demand following implementation may reduce carbon emissions, but importers will bear the cost of increased prices.

Asking the 5 W's for designing next‐generation bioprocessing

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Biotechnology is expanding beyond traditional, centralized fermentation and toward next‐generation bioprocessing paradigms that emphasize flexible deployment outside the laboratory with application‐specific performance. However, many bioprocesses fail to translate beyond proof‐of‐concept into industrially viable systems because early design ...

Urban sediment in infiltration wells: A lesson from the northern area of greater Yogyakarta city

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Geography, 2019
The development of housing in Yogyakarta eventually led to increased levels of runoff. To mitigate runoff increases, infiltration wells were constructed in a specific network. The northern part of Yogyakarta is now facing urbanization, and there are many

Toward Knowledge‐Guided AI for Inverse Design in Manufacturing: A Perspective on Domain, Physics, and Human–AI Synergy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights how knowledge‐guided artificial intelligence can address key challenges in manufacturing inverse design, including high‐dimensional search spaces, limited data, and process constraints. It focused on three complementary pillars—expert‐guided problem definition, physics‐informed machine learning, and large language model ...
