Farmers' Soil–Water Management Practices and Perspectives on Soil Salinization in Mirab Abaya District, Gamo Zone, Southern Ethiopia

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Soil salinization is a critical threat, impacting 20% of the world's irrigated lands and jeopardizing food security. In Ethiopia's Mirab Abaya district of the Gamo Zone, unsustainable irrigation methods exacerbate this issue. Evaluating Water–Energy–Food Nexus Strategies to Address Resource Scarcity in the Crocodile River Catchment, South Africa

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The water–energy–food (WEF) nexus approach highlights the interdependence of water, energy and food resources, all of which play central roles in agriculture, especially irrigation. A WEF nexus lens was applied to Mpumalanga's Crocodile River catchment, a vital irrigation area that significantly contributes to South Africa's staple food ...

Scaling of Short‐Duration, Summer Rainfall Event Temporal Profiles With Warming Over Great Britain

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Temperature scaling has been used to analyse the temporal profiles of short‐duration, summer rainfall events in Great Britain, for sub‐hourly observed and convection‐permitting climate model (CPM) data. Results show an increase with dewpoint temperature of event total rainfall depth, maximum intensity, concentration and front‐loading.
