Eelgrass in Estuarine Research Reserves Along the East Coast, USA [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Eelgrass, Zostera marina L., is a submerged marine vascular plant that provides the basic structure of an extensive and important estuarine and coastal ecosystem.

Environmental variables, habitat discontinuity and life history shaping the genetic structure of Pomatoschistus marmoratus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Coastal lagoons are semi-isolated ecosystems exposed to wide fluctuations of environmental conditions and showing habitat fragmentation. These features may play an important role in separating species into different populations, even at small spatial

Shoreline and deglaciation chronology in southeast Norway

open access: yesBoreas, Volume 55, Issue 1, Page 29-56, January 2026.
The postglacial relative sea level history is reconstructed in four areas of mid‐ and inner Oslofjorden in southeast Norway. The reconstructions are based on radiocarbon‐dated raised shoreline levels from 42 sites, mainly isolation basins, and limiting ages from four lakes above the marine limit.

New records of Erichsonella attenuata (Isopoda: Valvifera: Idoteidae)in the Gulf of Mexico

open access: yesRevista Mexicana de Biodiversidad, 2016
Erichsonella attenuata is an isopod species distributed in the Western Atlantic region of the Gulf of Mexico and is associated with sea-grass beds composed of Ruppia maritima, Halodule wrightii and Thalassia testudinum. In the Gulf of Mexico, this isopod

Testing biodegradable interventions to disrupt plant–animal feedbacks and promote seagrass establishment

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 1, January 2026.
Biogeochemical and physical feedbacks are well known to prevent ecosystem recovery even after initial disturbance factors are mitigated. However, multi‐trophic interactions that may maintain disturbed areas have received less attention, despite their potential importance in mediating restoration success. In this study, we surveyed stingray feeding pits

Fluid Dynamics of Hydrophilous Pollination in Ruppia (Widgeon Grass)

open access: yesVolume 1A, Symposia: Turbomachinery Flow Simulation and Optimization; Applications in CFD; Bio-Inspired and Bio-Medical Fluid Mechanics; CFD Verification and Validation; Development and Applications of Immersed Boundary Methods; DNS, LES and Hybrid RANS/LES Methods; Fluid Machinery; Fluid-Structure Interaction and Flow-Induced Noise in Industrial Applications; Flow Applications in Aerospace; Active Fluid Dynamics and Flow Control — Theory, Experiments and Implementation, 2016
The aim of this work is to understand the physics underlying the mechanisms of two-dimensional aquatic pollen dispersal, known as hydrophily, that have evolved in several genera of aquatic plants, including Halodule, Halophila, Lepilaena, and Ruppia. We selected Ruppia maritima, which is native to salt and brackish waters circumglobally, for this study.

Intraspecific trait variability is a key feature underlying the association between community‐weighted mean and abiotic gradients

open access: yesOikos, Volume 2025, Issue 12, December 2025.
Functional plant traits that influence fitness or performance provide a powerful tool for understanding and predicting how plants interact with their environment, respond to ecological changes, and contribute to ecosystem processes. To this day, most trait‐based ecological studies in both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems have assumed that species ...

Evaluation of artificial feeds for shrimp (Penaeus monodon) production in brackishwater ponds [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
only. The experiment was conducted in fifteen 500-m2 brackishwater ponds to determine the response of Penaeus monodon juveniles fed with various artificial diets. Five treatments with three replicates each were: two commercial feeds containing 45% and 40%
