Morphogenetic lability of the Ruppia maritima (Ruppiaceae, Alismatales) reproductive organs: From two lateral flowers to a terminal flower

Russian Journal of Developmental Biology, 2011
Flowers of Ruppia are usually arranged into an open two-flowered spike, but sometimes two lateral flowers are congenitally united with each other forming a terminal flower-like structure. This deviation from the morphogenesis of reproductive structures typical of Ruppia resembles those described in well-studied mutants of the model organisms of ...

TWO‐DIMENSIONAL POLLINATION IN HYDROPHILOUS PLANTS: CONVERGENT EVOLUTION IN THE GENERA HALODULE (CYMODOCEACEAE), HALOPHILA (HYDROCHARITACEAE), RUPPIA (RUPPIACEAE), AND LEPILAENA (ZANNICHELLIACEAE)

American Journal of Botany, 1989
In most plant species with abiotic pollination systems, pollen is dispersed in three dimensions. Theoretical considerations suggest, however, that there are significant advantages for two‐dimensional pollination systems over three‐dimensional systems, especially if pollen is dispersed in conveyances or aggregations of large diameter. We report that two‐

Towards a better understanding of the Ruppia maritima complex (Ruppiaceae): Notes on the correct application and typification of the names R. cirrhosa and R. spiralis

TAXON, 2017
AbstractRuppia cirrhosa and R. maritima are two widely used names, each applied respectively to a long‐ and coiled‐pedunculate species or a short‐ and non‐coiled pedunculate species of Ruppia. The nomenclatural history of the two names is outlined here. A lectotype for the name R.

[Morphogenetic lability of reproductive structures in Ruppia maritima (Ruppiaceae, Alismatales): from two lateral flowers to a terminal flower].

Ontogenez, 2011
Flowers of Ruppia are normally arranged into an open two-flowered spike, but sometimes the two lateral flowers are congenitally united with each other and form a terminal flower-like structure. This developmental abnormality resembles those described in well-investigated mutants of model organisms of developmental genetics such as Arabidopsis ...
