Morphogenesis of central and peripheral liver ruptures in blunt-force trauma
Sudebno-meditsinskaya ekspertiza, 2019The purpose of this study was an in depth investigation of the morphogenesis of central and peripheral liver ruptures in blunt trauma and to obtain additional information about their forensic medical significance. It has been established that central and peripheral ruptures are formed by shocks caused by very high forces, as well as by frontal ...

Vessel Steam Pipe Rupture Force on Internals
Volume 4: Fluid-Structure Interaction, 2008A postulated steam pipe rupture in a water-moderated nuclear power plant would cause a sonic discharge from the rupture and the formation of a large-amplitude step decompression, which would travel through the pipe to the reactor vessel. When the decompression arrived at the reactor, it would propagate into the vessel where it would exert decompression

Energy Flux of Propagating Ruptures with Cohesive Force
Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 2013Abstract The energy flux F at the rupture tip has been previously computed only for 2D steady‐state singular cracks. In this paper, I compute F for fully dynamic 3D ruptures, propagating both with constant and variable rupture speed ( v r ) over finite faults directed by a governing law with a cohesive zone (and thus nonsingular ruptures).

Inelastic Response of Nuclear Piping Subjected to Rupture Forces
Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology, 1976A numerical procedure which can be used to evaluate the inelastic dynamic response of piping systems subjected to blow-down forces is described. The following finite elements are used to represent the piping system: (1) bilinear beam element, (2) bilinear curved beam element, and (3) bilinear support element with an initial gap. The method is then used

[Traumatic ureteral rupture by the indirect effect of force].
Unfallchirurgie, 1985We report a rare case of complete ureteric avulsion as the result of indirect force and discuss the mechanism of injury in the light of relevant literature. The special problems of this injury with regard to diagnosis and therapy are explored. Every polytraumatized patient with involvement of the trunk should have an IVA at the earliest possible moment

Traumatic rupture of the gastrointestinal tract by non-penetrating forces
The American Journal of Surgery, 1944Abstract 1. 1. Traumatic perforation of the gastrointestinal tract by non-penetrating forces occur much more frequently than is appreciated. Five such cases are reported. 2. 2. The immediate perforations occur at the time of the accident and are recognized by the accompanying peritonitis. 3. 3. Delayed perforations occurred in 60 per cent

Time-to-rupture of plastics in forced-elastic and brittle states
Soviet Materials Science, 1970It was shown that if the time elapsed to the formation of a neck is taken as the criterion of the time-to-rupture of plastics, the latter property obeys the Aleksandrov-Gurevich equation for the relaxation time corrected for the pole displacement: $$\Theta = \Theta _0 \exp \left( {\frac{{U'_0 - \gamma '\sigma }}{R}} \right)\left( {\frac{1}{T ...

Oriented External Electric Field Controls the Rupture Forces in Mechanophores
The Journal of Physical Chemistry BControlling the reactivity of molecules under a mechanical pull has generated significant interest in organic and polymer chemistry. Inducing mechano-lability for otherwise rigid molecules has been possible through structural alterations like adjusting the pulling group, ring strain, and electron density of the scissile bond. In this article, we report
