Theorizing Rural Space

open access: yesHrvatski geografski glasnik/Croatian Geographical Bulletin, 2011

Microfluidic Engineering of Chitosan‐Coated Nanoemulsions for Controlled Release and Stability in Space Pharmaceutics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Microfluidic engineering enables the fabrication of chitosan‐coated, melatonin‐loaded nanoemulsions with controlled release and enhanced physicochemical stability for space pharmaceutics. Interfacial biopolymer coating modulates droplet behavior under accelerated thermal stress and simulated microgravity.

The Spatiotemporal Characteristics and Mechanism of Rural Spatial Shrinkage in Local County, Southeast China

open access: yesBuildings
The rapid urbanization process has brought about the shrinkage of rural space as a typical issue. Nevertheless, due to the dearth of effective assessment approaches, the patterns of rural spatial shrinkage remain poorly grasped.

Gut Microbiota‐Derived Anandamide Mediates the Therapeutic Effects of Urolithin A on Alcohol‐Induced Cognitive and Social Dysfunction via CB1R‐DRD2‐RAP1 Signaling Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that Urolithin A (UA) counteracts alcohol‐induced cognitive and social dysfunction (AICSD) via a gut microbiome‐dependent mechanism. UA‐enriched Bacteroids sartorii and Parabacteroids distasonis elevate anandamide (AEA), which activates the CB1R‐DRD2‐Rap1 signaling cascade to drive synaptic repair and reduce neuroinflammation ...

Divergent Regulatory Effects of Jasmonic Acid on Tomato Lycopene Biosynthesis Under Light and Dark Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals the mechanism by which jasmonic acid (JA) regulates lycopene synthesis under light and dark conditions. In light, JA activates SlMYC2, which suppresses SlPIF1a and promotes SlPSY1 expression. In darkness, JA induces the acetyltransferase SlNATA1, which acetylates the dark‐accumulated SlPIF1a, thereby repressing SlPSY1 expression ...

An Increasing Misalignment Between Crop Distribution and Environmental Resources Under Climate Change in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Climate change reshapes the spatial alignment between crop production and environmental resources. Using multi‐source data and a crop model, integrated climatic, water, and soil endowments for maize and wheat are quantified and compared with harvest distributions.

YA in Rural Spaces

open access: yesStudy and Scrutiny
With 19% of US students reading and learning in rural areas, adding books representative of these populations is important for all our students. The reviews and rationales that follow provide titles worthy of space in our libraries and classrooms. Lisa Hazlett explores Pumpkin by Julie Murphy; Patricia Lane provides a glimpse into Dark and Shallow Lies;

Genome‐Wide Association Study Reveals Insect Genetics and Microbial Symbiont Effects on Susceptibility of Diaphorina citri to the Citrus Greening Pathogen, Candidatus Liberibacter Asiaticus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the genetic and microbial factors influencing the susceptibility of Diaphorina citri to the citrus greening pathogen Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas), employing a microbiome Genome Wide Association Study. The research identifies a key gene encoding an MFS‐type transporter contributing to CLas infectivity and abundance in
