TECTB Variants Reveal Tectorial Membrane Vulnerability in Dominant Non‐Syndromic Hearing Loss

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TECTB is a non‐collagenous protein of the tectorial membrane – an extracellular matrix of the cochlea. This study identifies dominant missense variants in TECTB linked to human hereditary deafness in two unrelated families. Genetically engineered mice homozygous for one of the variants are profoundly deaf, whereas heterozygous mice have normal hearing ...

The Association Between Patient-Reported Social Risks and the HOUSES Index: A Rural-Urban Comparison

open access: yesJournal of Primary Care & Community Health
Introduction/Objectives: Little is known about the prevalence of patient-reported social risk factors and the use of the HOUSES Index, a simple, reliable method of assessing socioeconomic status (SES) based on publicly available housing data, in a ...

Polydopamine‐Wool Textiles for Sustainable Interfacial Solar Vapor Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A natural wool textile engineered for high solar absorbance and a fast‐wicking structure serves as a highly efficient, single‐layer system for interfacial solar vapor generation (ISVG). This integrated evaporator seamlessly couples rapid water transport with continuous evaporation. Ultimately, this sustainable photothermal design offers a scalable, eco‐

Enhanced Endophytic Colonization of Flavobacterium Promotes Plant Resistance to Fusarium Wilt

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A natural microbial consortium employing a cross‐feeding strategy forms a stratified biofilm that promotes endophytic colonization of auxotrophic Flavobacterium. This enhanced colonization activates plant systemic resistance, effectively suppressing Fusarium wilt.

FAM134B Restricts African Swine Fever Virus Capsid Assembly via Reticulophagy and Its Antiviral Activity is Antagonized by the Viral Virulence‐Associated Factor pMGF300‐2R

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT African swine fever (ASF), caused by African swine fever virus (ASFV), is a devastating viral disease in domestic pigs and wild boar. ASFV is a large DNA virus whose capsid assembly takes place within perinuclear viral factories (VFs). Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that reticulophagy confers antiviral activity against multiple RNA ...

Ultrathin Aluminum–Air Batteries via Hygroscopic Electrolytes for Continuous Operation of Imperceptible On‐Skin Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents ultrathin, high‐capacity aluminum‐air batteries (AABs) for self‐sustaining, skin‐conformal electronics. By utilizing ambient moisture and oxygen alongside a LiCl‐based hygroscopic hydrogel electrolyte, the design significantly reduces battery thickness while preventing dehydration and Al self‐corrosion.

How Video‐Based Information Affects Farmers' Willingness to Pay for Drone Services

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Professional service for digital technology like agricultural drones lowers transaction costs and scope thresholds for smallholders. Meanwhile, perceptual adoption barriers remain underexplored. We conduct a two‐stage choice experiment with a randomized video‐based information treatment among 384 Chinese crop farmers to measure its effect on ...
