Simulation Effect Analysis of RUSLE Model on Slope Soil Erosion Restored by Reclaimed Vegetation in Loess Plateau

open access: yesShuitu Baochi Xuebao
[Objective] To explore the effectiveness of the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) model in simulating soil erosion on slope surfaces during vegetation restoration in the Loess Plateau. [Methods] This study utilized rainfall-runoff and sediment

Effects of DEM Resolution on Hectare‐Scale Potential Soil Loss Modelling: A Case Study Using a Spatially Distributed Erosion Model

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 10, October 2026.
DEM resolution alters not only mean modelled soil loss but also its spatial redistribution at hectare scale. Using a spatially distributed erosion model, we show that changes in cell size modify slope, flow‐path length and run‐off concentration, producing non‐linear changes in erosion and deposition patterns.

Improving rehabilitation practices for the outer batter slopes of bauxite residue disposal areas at Worsley refinery, Collie, Western Australia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Control of water erosion of soil at mine sites requires an ability to predict the effects of different management practices on soil loss. Using soil loss models such as the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) requires calibration of the model ...

Spatial Estimation of Soil Erosion Using RUSLE Model: A Case Study of Sangareddy Telangna State, India

open access: yes, 2023
Soil erosion is a major environmental challenge that affects agricultural productivity, water quality, and land management. To address this issue, accurate estimation and spatial mapping of soil erosion rates are essential for effective soil conservation

Land Degradation and Its Economic Impacts on Agriculture and Forestry: Exploring IoT‐Based Mitigation Strategies

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, Volume 37, Issue 16, Page 11777-11790, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Land degradation threatens agricultural and forestry economies by lowering productivity, raising input costs, and increasing risk. This study examines whether Internet of Things applications moderate these losses in 1321 mainland Chinese counties from 2011 to 2024. Land degradation is measured separately through vegetation trends, modeled soil

Estimation of Soil Erosion Using RUSLE Model and GIS: The Case of Satinskyi Catchment, Western Rwanda [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The problem of soil erosion in Rwanda has been highlighted in previous studies. They have shown that half of the country’s farmland suffers moderate to severe erosion, with the highest soil loss rates found in the steeper and highly rainy northern and ...

Investigating the Effects of Land Cover Changes on Water Erosion Intensity Using the RUSLE Model in the Sahlabad Watershed [PDF]

open access: yesWater Harvesting Research
Water erosion, especially in dry and semi-arid regions, is one of the most significant environmental challenges, playing a crucial role in the degradation of natural resources.

Understanding the impact of changes in land-use land-cover and rainfall patterns on soil erosion rates using the RUSLE model and GIS techniques: A study on the Nagavali River basin

open access: yesJournal of Water and Climate Change, 2022
Soil erosion is the most common type of land degradation, and it has become a global environmental issue that reduces soil productivity and water quality and is accelerated by human-induced activities.

Afforestation Partially Offsets Losses of Soil Conservation Services and Carbon Stock From Direct and Indirect Urban Expansion in China

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, Volume 37, Issue 16, Page 11832-11847, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Urban expansion has exerted both direct and indirect impacts on natural land and ecosystem services it supports, driven by increasing population and food demand, yet these underlying pathways remain insufficiently distinguished. Here, we quantified the losses of soil conservation services (water erosion regulation and sandstorm prevention) and
