Application of RUSLE Model on Global Soil Erosion Estimate

open access: yesPROCEEDINGS OF HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING, 2001
Soil erosion is one of the most serious environmental problems commonly in over the world, which is caused by both natural and human factors. It is possible to investigate the global issue on soil erosion with the development of global data sets. This research estimated global soil erosion by the RUSLE model with use of a comprehensive global data set.

Estimation of soil erosion by the "Rusle" model of the Nura river basin

open access: yesJournal of Geography and Environmental Management, 2021
Over the past few decades, soil erosion has affected natural resources and agricultural production around the world. Primary soil erosion is the local impact of the influence on the decline in soil fertility and the deterioration of the quality of soil resources, while water pollution and sedimentary residues are off — site.

Assessing the applicability of the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) to Irish Catchments [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences, 2015
Elevated suspended sediment concentrations in fluvial environments have important implications for system ecology and even small concentrations may have serious consequences for sensitive ecosystems or organisms, such as freshwater pearl mussels ...

Assessment of the soil-protecting services of the forest ecosystem: a case study in Ilam catchment, Iran

open access: yesMetsanduslikud Uurimused, 2023
The natural forests of western Iran play a key role in delivering services and goods to local society. Nonetheless, this forest ecosystem, despite its importance, is threatened by natural factors and anthropogenic activities, resulting in decreasing soil

D-RUSLE: a dynamic model to estimate potential soil erosion with satellite time series in the Italian Alps

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Remote Sensing, 2019
Soil erosion is addressed as one of the main hydrogeological risks in the European Union. Since the average annual soil loss rate exceeds the annual average formation rate, soil is considered as a non-renewable resource.

Estimation of soil erosion for a sustainable land use planning: RUSLE model validation by remote sensing data utilization in the Kalikonto watershed

open access: yesJournal of Degraded and Mining Lands Management, 2015
Technology of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) are increasingly used for planning and natural resources management. GIS and RS is based on pixels is used as a tool of spatial modeling for predicting the erosion.

Assessment soil erotion risk in kohpayeh - segzi plain using Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RSLE) [PDF]

open access: yesمخاطرات محیط طبیعی, 2018
Soil erosion is one of the most important environmental problems we face today. Increasing human exploitation and lack of proper management of the natural environment has a great impact on intensifying the process of soil degradation and erosion. In this

Incorporating rocky desertification characteristic into soil erosion modeling in karst regions aligns better with regional conditions

open access: yesInternational Soil and Water Conservation Research
The Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) is the most widely used soil erosion modeling method worldwide. The karst regions, influenced by geological conditions and human activities, feature extensive exposure of carbonate rocks on the surface ...

Soil erosion in an avalanche release site (Valle d'Aosta: Italy): towards a winter factor for RUSLE in the Alps [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, 2014
Soil erosion in Alpine areas is mainly related to extreme topographic and weather conditions. Although different methods of assessing soil erosion exist, the knowledge of erosive forces of the snow cover needs more investigation in order to allow soil ...

Towards improving the applicability of the RUSLE model at mountainous Mediterranean catchments [PDF]

open access: yesGlobal NEST Journal, 2016

In here we present a modified version of the RUSLE model, which can perform better than the original version at mountainous, Mediterranean catchments. A weighing coefficient is assigned at each factor in the model resulting into a reduction in the model residuals (difference between modeled and observed sediment yield ...
