Electrochemical Hydrodimerization of Furfural in Organic Media as an Efficient Route to Jet Fuel Precursor

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 10, Issue 2, January 17, 2023., 2023
Taking off with hydrofuroin: An efficient strategy for the electrosynthesis of hydrofuroin – a jet fuel precursor – from biomass‐derived furfural is reported. We show that hydrofuroin can be synthesized in organic media in a simple undivided cell with a high faradaic efficiency (up to 74 %) and an excellent yield (up to 100 %).

The Russian-focused embedders' exploration: ruMTEB benchmark and Russian embedding model design [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Embedding models play a crucial role in Natural Language Processing (NLP) by creating text embeddings used in various tasks such as information retrieval and assessing semantic text similarity. This paper focuses on research related to embedding models in the Russian language.

A new Crocodyloidea from the middle Eocene of Zamora (Duero Basin, Spain)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The eusuchian crocodyliforms recorded in the Eocene levels of the Spanish Duero Basin belong to three lineages: Planocraniidae, with the species Duerosuchus piscator; Alligatoroidea, represented by several specimens of the genus Diplocynodon; and Crocodyloidea, which includes several specimens traditionally attributed to Asiatosuchus.

Automatic hierarchical model builder

open access: yesJournal of Chemometrics, Volume 36, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract When building classification models of complex systems with many classes, the traditional chemometric approaches such as discriminant analysis or soft independent modeling of class analogy often fail. Some people resort to advanced deep neural network, but this is only an option if there is access to very many samples.

Hypercanines: Not just for sabertooths

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Hypercanines are here defined as hypertrophied caniniform teeth, that is, canine teeth that are elongated to serve specific functions in different clades of mammals and their synapsid ancestors. This article presents an overview of the occurrence of hypercanines, their growth, and their function across a broad range of clades.

Stacking Interactions: A Supramolecular Approach to Upgrade Weak Halogen Bond Donors

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 28, Issue 70, December 15, 2022., 2022
π‐Stacking interactions turn on halogen σ‐hole in unactivated chloro‐ and bromo‐arenes which are thus enabled to function as good halogen bonding donors. Abstract The co‐crystallization of tetracyanobenzene (TCB) with haloarenes ArX provided six new co‐crystals TCB ⋅ ArX (ArX=PhCl, PhBr, 4‐MeC6H4Cl, 4‐MeC6H4Br, 4‐MeOC6H4Cl, 1,2‐Br2C6H4) which were ...

Variability of jaw muscles in Tunisian street dogs and adaptation to skull shape

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The impact of artificial selection on the masticatory apparatus of dogs has been poorly studied, and comparative data with dogs subjected to more natural constraints are lacking. This study explores the jaw musculature of Tunisian street dogs, which are largely free from the influence of breed‐specific selection.
