Reactivity of Sodium Pentaphospholide Na[cyclo‐P5] towards C≡E (E=C, N, P) Triple Bonds

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 28, Issue 67, December 1, 2022., 2022
[Cyclo‐P5]− reacts with alkynes and the isolobal nitriles and phosphaalkynes to generate novel, aromatic, five‐membered heterocycles. DFT calculations give insight into the mechanism of the reaction. The anionic ligands coordinate in an η5‐fashion towards FeII to give the corresponding (aza)phosphametallocenes, which could be characterized ...

Review of the anatomical basis for predicting plutonium alpha particle radiation induced osteogenic cancers

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Plutonium was discovered and first synthesized in the early 1940's. Several isotopes of plutonium are used in nuclear technologies, 238Pu for heat generation and 239Pu for energy production and weapons. Both isotopes emit alpha particles, which pose a significant radiation hazard when incorporated into the body.
