Phototoxic Furanoquinolines of the Rutaceae

Dictamnine, isodictamnine, 7-demethylskimmianine, maculosidine and maculine were shown to be phototoxic to certain bacteria and yeasts in long wave UV light. Dose response curves with dictamnine and 8-methoxypsoralen in UV light were compared using E. COLI and SACCHAROMYCES CEREVISIAE.
