Trends in Metal Oxide Stability for Nanorods, Nanotubes, and Surfaces
The formation energies of nanostructures play an important role in determining their properties, including the catalytic activity. For the case of 15 different rutile and 8 different perovskite metal oxides, we find that the density functional theory ...

Chemical Vapor Deposition of silicon nanodots on TiO2 submicronic powders in vibrated fluidized bed [PDF]
Silicon nanodots have been deposited on TiO2 submicronic powders in a vibrated Fluidized Bed Chemical Vapor Deposition (FBCVD) reactor from silane SiH4. Deposition conditions involving very low deposition rates have been studied. After treatment, powders

Photonic time crystals (PTCs) are systems in which electromagnetic parameters are modulated periodically in time, producing momentum bandgaps via temporal scattering rather than spatial Bragg processes. This review examines the theoretical frameworks, modeling, and computational tools for time‐varying media, and summarizes experimental demonstrations ...

Scanning probe microscopy studies on the adsorption of selected molecular dyes on titania
Titanium dioxide, or titania, sensitized with organic dyes is a very attractive platform for photovoltaic applications. In this context, the knowledge of properties of the titania–sensitizer junction is essential for designing efficient devices ...

Phonon anharmonicity of rutile TiO_2 studied by Raman spectrometry and molecular dynamics simulations [PDF]
Raman spectra of rutile titanium dioxide (TiO_2) were measured at temperatures from 100 to 1150 K. Each Raman mode showed unique changes with temperature. Beyond the volume-dependent quasiharmonicity, the explicit anharmonicity was large.

ABSTRACT The combination of metasurfaces with chalcogenide phase‐change materials is a highly promising route toward the development of multifunctional and reconfigurable nanophotonic devices. However, their transition into real‐world devices is hindered by several technological challenges. This includes, amongst others, the lack of large area photonic

Hydrogen motion in rutile TiO2 [PDF]
AbstractUniaxial-stress experiments have been performed for the 3287- and 2445-cm−1 local vibrational modes assigned to the positive charge state of interstitial hydrogen $$({{\rm{H}}}_{i}^{+})$$ ( H

Mechanical properties of ceria nanorods and nanochains; The effect of dislocations, grain-boundaries and oriented attachment [PDF]
We predict that the presence of extended defects can reduce the mechanical strength of a ceria nanorod by 70%. Conversely, the pristine material can deform near its theoretical strength limit.
