Interlaboratory Tests on Pavement Performance Prediction and Evaluation – Rutting

2012
The former RILEM TC 182 PEB organized 1997 an international interlaboratory test on pavement performance, prediction and evaluation. The aim was to predict the expected damages after 10 years on the basis of traffic and climatic data by testing samples that were cut from the newly constructed road.

Suitability of Asphalt Pavement Analyzer for Predicting Pavement Rutting

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2000
Findings are summarized from an investigation performed to evaluate the suitability of a wheel-tracking device known as the asphalt pavement analyzer (APA) for assessing the rutting potential of asphalt mixes. The evaluation process consisted of correlating the APA’s predicted rutting with known field measurements.

Proposal and Evaluation of Prediction of Pavement Rutting Depth by Recurrent Neural Network

2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI), 2017
This paper describes a method of predicting the rutting depth by introducing Adam and dropout into MLP of neural network and GRU of recurrent neural net that can handle time series data. We built a model to predict the current rutting depth from the past rutting 3 years ago.

Incremental Rutting Prediction with Asphalt Mixture Shear Properties

2018
It is a purpose of the article to present the correlation between two devices developed to measure shear properties of asphalt mixtures. The shear properties are measured by well-known Superpave Shear Tester and developed Uniaxial Shear Tester. The material characteristics are determined from two test methodologies.

Rheological characterization of bituminous binder to predict pavement rutting

Sixth International RILEM Symposium on Performance Testing and Evaluation of Bituminous Materials, 2003
The original Superpave bituminous binder specification to warrant against rutting was based on G*/sin theta as measured in the dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) at the upper pavement temperature. Recent research has suggested a repeated creep test conducted in rotational shear with the DSR as a more appropriate specification test for grading PG binders at ...

Use of Superpave Gyratory Compaction Data for Rutting Prediction

Journal of Transportation Engineering, 2006
This paper presents the estimation results of an improved nonlinear rutting progression model for asphalt concrete mixes. Rutting is modeled as a function of traffic, temperature, and mix characteristics, including voids filled with asphalt, asphalt content, in-place air voids, surface area, and the densification slope.
