This study shows that lizard osteoderm capping tissue is a hyper‐mineralized hydroxyapatite layer consistently covering the superficial osteoderm surface in those species studied here, yet it varies greatly in morphology, nanostructure, and mechanical performance across species.

Computational probabilistic quantification of pro-arrhythmic risk from scar and left-to-right heterogeneity in the human ventricles [PDF]
Both scar and left-to-right ventricular (LV/RV) differences in repolarization properties have been implicated as risk factors for lethal arrhythmias.

Correcting HIRES radial velocities for small systematic errors
The HIRES spectrograph, mounted on the $10$-m Keck-I telescope, belongs to a small group of radial-velocity (RV) instruments that produce stellar RVs with long-term precision down to $\sim1$ ms$^{-1}$. In $2017$, the HIRES team published $64,480$ RVs of $

Nano‐ and Micro‐Sized Solid Materials Used as Antiviral Agents
Due to the rise of viral infections in humans and possible viral outbreaks, the use of nano‐ or micro‐sized materials as antiviral agents is rapidly increasing. This review explores their antiviral properties against RNA and DNA viruses, either as a prevention or a treatment tool, by delving into their mechanisms of action and how to properly assess ...

The Blazhko behavior of RV UMa
RV UMa is one of the most extensively studied RR Lyrae stars showing Blazhko modulation. Its photometric observations cover more than 90 years. The published photoelectric observations of RV UMa obtained at the Konkoly Observatory (Kanyo, 1976) were re ...

Development of a Synthetic 3D Platform for Compartmentalized Kidney In Vitro Disease Modeling
A fully synthetic, compartmentalized 3D kidney disease model is introduced. The kidney model combines a PEG‐based hydrogel matrix with anisotropic, enzymatically degradable rod‐shaped microgels to spatially arrange a triple co‐culture of key renal epithelial, endothelial, and fibroblast cells.

The Bizarre Spectral Variability of Central Stars of Planetary Nebulae
A radial velocity (RV) survey to detect central stars in binary systems was carried out between 2002 and 2004. De Marco et al. (2004) reported that 10 out of 11 monitored stars exhibited strong RV variability, but periods were not detected.
