RAR and RXR Expression by Kupffer Cells
Experimental and Molecular Pathology, 2000Retinoids are known to modulate macrophage differentiation, proliferation, and function including cytokine gene expression. However, signaling of retinoic acid (RA), a biologically active metabolite of vitamin A, in Kupffer cells has not been characterized.

Ligand Design for Modulation of RXR Functions
2019Retinoid X receptors (RXRs) are promiscuous partners of heterodimeric associations with other members of the Nuclear Receptor (NR) superfamily. RXR ligands ("rexinoids") either transcriptionally activate the "permissive" subclass of heterodimers or synergize with partner ligands in the "nonpermissive" subclass of heterodimers.

Tuning RXR Modulators for PGC1α Recruitment
Journal of Medicinal ChemistryThe molecular activation mechanism of the nuclear retinoid X receptors (RXRs) crucially involves ligand-induced corepressor release and coactivator recruitment which mediate transcriptional repression or activation. The ability of RXR to bind diverse coactivators suggests that a coregulator-selective modulation by ligands may open an avenue to tissue ...

VDR and RXR Subcellular Trafficking
2010During the past decade, a new dynamic perspective of vitamin D receptor (VDR) and retinoid X receptor (RXR) functions has emerged. The ability to monitor receptor movement in living cells by fluorescent techniques in real time has led to the realization that VDR, RXR, and most other nuclear receptors (NRs) and transcription factors constantly shuttle ...
