Spatiotemporal dynamics of quantum jumps with Rydberg atoms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We study the nonequilibrium dynamics of quantum jumps in a one-dimensional chain of atoms. Each atom is driven on a strong transition to a short-lived state and on a weak transition to a metastable state.

Electromagnetically Induced Transparency with Rydberg Atoms [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2011
We present a theory of electromagnetically induced transparency in a cold ensemble of strongly interacting Rydberg atoms. Long-range interactions between the atoms constrain the medium to behave as a collection of superatoms, each comprising a blockade volume that can accommodate at most one Rydberg excitation.

Effect of finite detection efficiency on the observation of the dipole-dipole interaction of a few Rydberg atoms

open access: yes, 2007
We have developed a simple analytical model describing multi-atom signals that are measured in experiments on dipole-dipole interaction at resonant collisions of a few Rydberg atoms.

Interatomic Coulombic decay cascades in multiply excited neon clusters

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Interatomic Coulombic decay (ICD) is a relaxation of an atom in a weakly bound environment by the transfer of excess energy to ionize the neighbouring atom.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Variational approach to quantum spin liquid in a Rydberg atom simulator

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2023
Recently the Rydberg blockade effect has been utilized to realize quantum spin liquid (QSL) on a kagome lattice. Evidence of QSL has been obtained experimentally by directly measuring non-local string order.

Advancing Energy Materials by In Situ Atomic Scale Methods

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 15, Issue 11, March 18, 2025.
Progress in in situ atomic scale methods leads to an improved understanding of new and advanced energy materials, where a local understanding of complex, inhomogeneous systems or interfaces down to the atomic scale and quantum level is required. Topics from photovoltaics, dissipation losses, phase transitions, and chemical energy conversion are ...

Photochemistry of Aromatic N‐Oxides in Water Probed by Time‐Resolved X‐ray Absorption Spectroscopy

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved XAS at the nitrogen and oxygen K‐edges is applied to the photorearrangement of two N‐oxides in water. Pyridine N‐oxide rapidly forms the oxaziridine isomer. Pyridazine N‐oxide undergoes ring opening to the diazo compound, without any evidence of intermediates.

Correspondence Principle for Many-Body Scars in Ultracold Rydberg Atoms

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2021
The theory of quantum scarring—a remarkable violation of quantum unique ergodicity—rests on two complementary pillars: the existence of unstable classical periodic orbits and the so-called quasimodes, i.e., the nonergodic states that strongly overlap ...

Spectral properties of a Rydberg atom immersed in a Bose-Einstein condensate

open access: yes, 2007
The electronic spectrum of a Rydberg atom immersed in a Bose-Einstein condensate is investigated. The Heisenberg equations of motions for the condensate and the Rydberg atom are derived.
