Rydberg electromagnetically induced transparency of 85Rb vapor in Ar, Ne, and N2 gases

open access: yesAPL Quantum
An experimental study on Rydberg electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in rubidium (Rb) vapor cells containing inert gases at pressures ≤5 Torr is reported.

Pattern formation of quantum jumps with Rydberg atoms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We study the nonequilibrium dynamics of quantum jumps in a one-dimensional chain of atoms. Each atom is driven on a strong transition to a short-lived state and on a weak transition to a metastable state.

Fast Entangling Gates for Rydberg Atoms via Resonant Dipole-Dipole Interaction

open access: yesPRX Quantum
The advent of digital neutral-atom quantum computers relies on the development of fast and robust protocols for high-fidelity quantum operations. In this work, we introduce a novel scheme for entangling gates using four atomic levels per atom: a ground ...

Isotropic antenna based on Rydberg atoms

open access: yesOptics Express
Governed by the hairy ball theorem, classical antennas with isotropic responses to linearly polarized radio waves are unrealizable. Also, their calibrations face a causal dilemma. Therefore, radio wave measurements based on classical antennas are challenging to achieve high accuracy.

Rydberg atom in gravity

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2014
The local position invariance of a physical system is examined using a Rydberg atom and the universality of free fall is found to be invalid for a quantum system. A Rydberg atom is analysed in Newtonian gravity and curved space. The energy is found to vary as n2 for very large values of the principal quantum number n. The change in energy is calculated

Observation of effects of inter-atomic interaction on Autler–Townes splitting in cold Rydberg atoms

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
We demonstrate the effect of inter-atomic interaction in highly excited Rydberg atoms via Autler–Townes (AT) splitting in cold atoms. We measure the AT splitting of the $\{5S_{1/2}, F = 2\} \rightarrow \{5P_{3/2}, F^{^{\prime}} = 3\}$ transition of ^87 ...
