Of Packs & Lone Wolves: Interview with Ellis Amdur Regarding Japanese Martial Traditions, by Peter Hobart

open access: yesRevista de Artes Marciales Asiáticas, 2012
There are some significant differences in the manner that the classical Japanese martial arts are practiced in the East and in the West. Among these are the student-teacher relationship, the degree of formality and the level of emphasis on etiquette in ...

Epigenetically Regulated NOX4/NRF2 Axis Mediates PM2.5‐Induced Ferroptosis and Inflammatory Response in Membranous Nephropathy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study aims to explore the involvement and mechanism of ferroptosis in particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5)–induced membranous nephropathy (MN) progression. A cationic bovine serum albumin (cBSA)–induced mouse model of MN was established, followed by PM2.5 exposure.

Ultrasound Features Associated with Activity of Perianal Fistulas in Pediatric Patients with Crohn's Disease

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Objectives To evaluate the usefulness of transperineal ultrasonography (TPUS) for assessing the activity of perianal fistulas by exploring features associated with the magnetic resonance novel index for fistula imaging in Crohn's disease (MAGNIFI‐CD).

Entanglement entropy of conformal field theory in all dimensions

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We provide a field-theoretic method to calculate entanglement entropy of CFT in all dimensions. This method works for entangling surfaces of arbitrary shape. The formalism manifests a field-theoretic proof of the Ryu-Takayanagi formula.

Analysis of Carbohydrates and Glycoconjugates by Matrix‐Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Mass Spectrometry: An Update for 2023–2024

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The use of MALDI mass spectrometry for the analysis of carbohydrates and glycoconjugates is a well‐established technique and this comprehensive review is the twelfth update of the original article published in 1999 and brings coverage of the literature to the end of 2024.

Wavelet covariance approach to measure convective boundary‐layer structure

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
This study introduces a wavelet‐based framework that applies the Haar discrete wavelet transform (DWT) to radiosonde profiles of potential temperature and water vapor mixing ratio for diagnosing convective boundary‐layer (CBL) structure. The method objectively identifies key CBL parameters, including the surface‐layer height, entrainment zone depth ...

Replica wormholes and entanglement islands in the Karch-Randall braneworld

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The Karch-Randall braneworld provides a natural set-up to study the Hawking radiation from a black hole using holographic tools. Such a black hole lives on a brane and is highly quantum yet has a holographic dual as a higher dimensional classical theory ...

Modulation of turbulence and mesoscale structure in nested large‐eddy simulations with a gray‐zone parent domain

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
The cell perturbation (CP) method mitigate mesoscale structural perturbations entering large‐eddy simulations (LES) from gray‐zone parent domains. The turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) bias‐filtering effect of CP increases with nesting ratio and is most pronounced under weakly convective conditions.
